Default HELP! EVAP control system leak detected!?

Hey guys, I just got my 2004 350z enthusiast recently and today the cel came on. I pumped gas earlier in the morning, drove around to run some errands and then the car seemed to bog down and the cel came on. I took it over to autozone for a diagnostics test and got back the EVAP control system leak reading. Well I checked if its the fuel pump and that has never been tampered with, as it was extremely dusty. I have my suspicions that it could be a magnaflow exhaust that was installed. BUT i also put new washer fluid into the car because that light was on and now its leaking from the bottom any ideas what it could be? Thanks!

Check your gas cap.

I reopened the gas cap and tried to re tighten it, no luck. Did it around 3 times and still no luck each time. I have a suspicion it could be that though because that happened in a previous car I had (not 350) but the cel is still on. And my washer fluid completely drained out :/ and that light is back on as well although that's not too big an issue to me.

You should go and get your car code read. It sounds like evap canister or evap hose could be leaking. I have a Murano and recently had the same problem First was to replace gas cap. Drove it around and noticed leak under car after sitting over night. Turned out I needed a new evap canister because the old one was leaking.

the code i got back from autozone was p0456 and p2135 which was sensor performance condition fault and the evap control system small leak detected. Would it better to take it to the dealership rather than taking it to my personal mechanic? I haven't noticed a leak underneath the car or around the engine. its bone dry in the engine bay.

A small leak is usually the gas cap, filler hose, vent hose, or tank. It's nothing to do with your exhaust or washer fluid lol.

If you end up needing a new EVAP canister, let me know. I removed mine from my car because it is full race now. It's just been a paper weight in my garage. If you need it, I can sell it you for cheap.

Good looking out man I'll pm you if I find out if I need one. My mechanic recommended I call the dealer because I recently got my z and they told me to bring it in this Thursday. Hopefully it's nothing too big a problem, my mechanic says it shouldn't be it'll just fail emissions if I don't attend to it.

You can get around the inspection if you know what you're doing.
