Default 03 white smoke and fuel smell from exhaust

Hello all!

I recently start to have a problem with my Z. Upon cold start up constant but light white smoke comes out of my exhaust with an unbearable fuel smell and when I say unbearable I mean eye burning need to run away smell! If I take it for a short drive the smoke stops but the heavy gas smell remains at all times and I can park it again and idle for hours and not see any smoke again till next cold start. I am not losing any water nor do I have any signs of water in my oil. I have seen a few similar post but not exact my smoking goes away as others remain throughout the duration of the motor running. Only mod I have is test pipes. Any ideas are welcome!

How long have you had your current tank of gas? I would cycle through at least a tank or two before you go chasing anything major. I had this issue but my car sat through approximately 15months with only a handful of drives and 3/4 tank of gas...I believe I had a ton of moisture build up. I siphoned the gas out (approximately 12gallons made it out)and put it in my pickup and it did the same thing...

if you are running cat-deletes than you will get some unburnt fuel - are these a recent modification??

Test pipes are fairly recent but since the install I have run three tanks and about 600 miles including a 300 mile trip. Before the test pipes it never smoked but did have an abnormally rich fuel smell to it. I was originally thinking I had a bad fuel injector but the white smoke is throwing me off. The car has 80k on it so I was considering changing the injectors anyway as a maint. Item and hopefully get lucky. Also I replaced the MAF and coolant temp sensor. The only other thing that has been done was I had my mechanic replace both valve cover gaskets at the same time he installed the test pipes. I wonder if some sort of air leak in the plenum could cause these problems?

Sounds like you are running rich but I'm not sure the TPs would throw the ecu off that much.

I agree. That's why I am stumped. I was going to replace the injectors anyway so I guess I will start there

I'm assuming you don't have any check engine lights...so that means your mechanic installed non-fouler-extensions on your O2 sensors - if not, you'd have a check engine almost immediately after starting up the car the first time.
