Default airbag light flashing

so last winter my air bag light just came on out of no where and is flashing. i did the reset procedure and it came right back on after a few miles. it didnt bother me much so i just left it alone all this time. today i went to a friends shop and had him plug his special scanner in to see whats up and its saying it could be the clock spring . however after doing some searching on here ppl with bad clock springs also didnt have their horn/cruise control/ radio buttons work . although i do not have cruise control option or the radio switches on my steering wheel my horn works fine so im thinking its not the clockspring ... anyone have any idea what it could be? would appreciate the input! i wanted to get a quick release set up for my car and was wondering if the resistors would keep the light off anyhow ?

Stick with the clock spring as a possibility.... When mine went out I had full function of my cruise control, since the one wire that broke in the ribbon was for the airbag.
