Hi all. I finally got a chance to install the Injected Performance diff brace.

First of all, I have to say I am really unimpressed with the part. I understand it was not expensive but I just maybe expected more.

The entire brace is powdercoated, which looks cool, but I guess was not factored in when the dimensions were used to make the part. The tube that slides into the subframe did not fit, and I basically had to spend about 30 minutes removing the powdercoat so it would fit. Once I got that in, the two bolt holes did not line up perfectly against the back of the diff and required some muscle to get everything bolted up without stripping anything.

Up to this point, I was fine with only having to remove the powdercoat and using some muscle to get it to fit. The car drives a lot better as the diff feels solid, and it reduced wheel hop altogether. I was super happy with the product.

Now, a few days later, every time I start from 1st gear I hear a metal squeak coming from the brace which gets quite loud if I am next to a wall to hear the echo of it. Last night after work I got under the car and it looks solid, but pieces of the powdercoat cracked off, especially near the 2 bolts that connect to the diff. I am assuming the metal is slightly bending, which is fine if it is supposed to.

But now here I am, with an annoying squeak that I want to fix.

I torqued all 3 bolts to 52 ft-lbs, which I read is what the oem cover bolts should be torqued on the diff.

Any ideas? I will be putting the car on the lift on Sunday to install my BBK and sway bars, and would like to have everything "perfect" after the installs.

 

what if you try lubing up the bolt and the inner shaft part, where you had to scrape off the powdercoating

 

I will probably try that first. What do you recommend? White lithium grease?

maybe also some kind of rubber washer or something where it goes through subframe, maybe it is rubbing there?

Update:

I removed the brace and noticed 3 things that could be making the noise.

1. The 2 bolts on the diff cover slightly loosened. Not sure why, I torqued to 56 ft-lbs as per FSM.
2. The cylinder portion that slides into the subframe is not perfectly round since I had to sand it by hand.
3. A portion of the brace rests against the bottom of the subframe.

I am leaning towards 3 being the main culprit. So I grinded that that area of the brace so it wouldnt rest against the bottom of the subframe. I also greased the cylinder tube and then reinstalled. I torqued all bolts to 60 ft-lbs and so far all good.

I am going to check in a week and if the bolts back out again I will have to use locktite.

 

So far so good. The first time it took about 2-3 days of driving for the noise to start. I didn't drive it yesterday but took the Z to work today.

 

Update. So everything has been fine up to this point, and then yesterday the noise came back. I guess the grease finally either came out or something. This weekend I plan on removing it, re-greasing it, and maybe add a thin rubber spacer between the brace and the subframe. I am a little cautious about that considering how tight the brace fits against the subframe while connecting to the diff. We will see.

Still super happy with it. It is sturdy as hell and gets the job done.

 

So it looks like the brace cracked. I went on the website and it doesn't say anything about a warranty, and I tried to call a few times but no answer.

I read a couple places online that they closed. Is this true? The number still works and it says Injected Performance, just nobody is picking up and it's going to voicemail.

 

Bump for any help on if anybody knows anything regarding IP.

I might bring the brace to my buddy to have him weld and re-powdercoat, however it would just be better to get the part warrantied.

I was also looking into getting one. Very glad I came across this review. What other brand even makes the same brace? I thought Injected Performance was the only company that did supply one
