Default what oil is everyone using?

I've been using wolf's head 5w-30 semi synthetic since I've gotten the car about a year ago now. This is what ive always got through The Parts House, and I've yet to have any problems with it, however lately I've been wanting to try some new kinds and see how they do. so my last oil change I used castrol GTX to my suprise, I feel as if they wolf's head was better...

However this oil change I wanted to try the castrol, magnatec? I think that's the name.. but they don't carry anything but shell, Mobil one, amelie and wolfs head ( owned by amelie, I debated getting Mobil 1 but that would mean making the switch to full synthetic, was unsure if I wanted to do that or not, but I decided to go ahead and make the switch, however I did not get the mobile 1 ( I've just nevered liked it, I don't know why, its unappealing to me) my 1st choice was gonna be quaker state dexos. But that didn't happen, so what I ended up getting was more wolf's head but it was dexos and full synthetic this time. After the oil change i could easily feel how much smoother everything was.
I do plan to get a uoa done when i chanhe the oil next just to see how it really does.

I have to say, for an oil I wouldve pictured as an oil to wash out old oil containers, this is pretty good quality stuff, and cheap.
I couldn't find a whole lot about wolf's head but did find they started in 1879 in PA since then they've been owned by pennzoil and then shell, then sold to amelie, and is now located right here in Florida in Tampa. Also, apparently this used to be a very popular oil back in the day, maybe some of you older folks will remember it?

Well that's my story, so what oil are you all using? Semi synthetic, full synthetic? 5w30, 0w30? How's it working? Had lab tests done??

I currently use:
Motul 8100 Eco-nergy 5W-30
(lot's of us in the UK use that)

But I may try this out next time:
Silkolene PRO S 5W-40

I currently run Mobil1 0w-40 synthetic with a Mobil1 filter in my supercharged Z.

I've used Amsoil 5w-30 synthetic which wasn't bad just pricey.

It seems like the majority here uses Mobil 1, Idk why, I just never liked Mobil 1 but maybe its really not that bad..

Have any of you ever used wolf's head? If so was it better / worse than another brand youve used?

Shell Rotella T6 5W40 (which weighs out closer to 30W than 40W). I like it because it's cheap and it has lots of zinc additives. I had a turbo that survived several weeks of full throttle surge while I was working out issues with zero thrust bearing damage on this stuff.

Because it performs good in our motors. If you check out the Oil Analysis thread, it does a good job alongside other oils too.

I've never used wolf's head, but give it a go, and send an oil sample to get it tested and report back.

yeah I know it performs good, at least from other people's opinions, but I could never find the actual thread of the oil analysis, but I found a thread that someone talked about a few things from it and said royal purple was the worst, I'd never use that anyways. But like I said ive been using wolfs head since I got the car and haven't had any problems, that I can tell from a visual inspection of the oil, but since I just switched to full synthetic I do plan to send a sample for testing to Blackstone when I do my next oil change.

Who knows, maybe ill try Mobil 1 and see if I notice any difference, I also use the ac delco oil filter, been thinking about using k&n pro series tho.

Read the first page and the graphs detailing the results. Resolute did a great service to this board in collecting all the data and putting it into an understandable format.

thanks a lot dk, been looking for that for a couple days. I'm reading through it in my down time, seems amsoil and castrol syntec was best( there's still parts of the chart I have to look over) but its hard for me to read due to the phone.

The problem is I can only get Mobil 1, wolfshead, some shell, not much idr but don't think they had 5w-30 there, Kendall and motorcraft, however the last two I won't be able to get in 5qt quanities so either I go somewhere else ( which I don't want to do) or I can use Mobil 1 next if uoa comes back with poor results

When I had my Z I used Amsoil 5w30 iirc.

I use Amsoil in all of my vehicles now.
