Default Trunk lift issues solved?

I have been trying to resolve issues with the '04 roadster I recently bought. Those issues were:
1. Trunk doesn't stay open unless fully open. Solution: new trunk lifters. Really easy to put in and did the trick.
2. Trunk release works but the trunk lid barely moves when released. I had to basically force my fingers under the lid to open. Solution: Remove and disassemble the assister spring assemblies. I stretched the springs to 3" and re-assembled. This seems to have solved my problem but only time will tell if it's permanent.
I hope this might help someone with a similar issue.

Most people just stick a penny or two in between the rubber cover and the spring for a little added pop.

Mine still sticks because I never open it and the weather strip sticks down. Gotta stick my fingers in there and give it a pull while I double clutch the switch.

You've got a good idea, but I'm going to try below link first then try stretching the spring if results aren't optimal.

even with the penny trick, the spring will eventually fail, mine cracked to pieces. they are like $28 each which is ridiculous

Yeah, I get the feeling that my spring stretch is temporary. The trunk lid just pops up enough so that I don't have to jam my fingers in the seam. Since I bought the car used, I don't know if that's as much as we can expect or whether it should pop up an inch, or what. I guess when my fix fails I'll bite the bullet and buy new springs.
