Default All options to clear airbag light?

Hey all,

Obviously my airbag light is on going by the thread title...the reason is I took out the oem seats (with side airbags) and put in oem seats that have been redone in leather that are WITHOUT SIDE AIRBAGS....and the airbag light is on of course.

I've tried to clear the light a while back, didn't work, used the tutorial on YouTube I think it was, but I can't get it to STAY off.

Now I've just learned that someone online is saying my airbag won't deploy at all with the light on? So now I really want the issue resolved once and for all...

What can I do? Anyone know the guaranteed way to resolve the light? Can the dealership do it if my own efforts fail?

Just want to ensure safety at this point, and of course I do not want to take out the seats and have to find oem seats with side airbags and then get those recovered.....that's money I don't have and would be a lot of work...the original oem seats with airbags are long gone sold.

Thanks for all help as usual,

Sup Saved.
That's a lot of qs. I cannot answer whether it will deploy if srs light is on.
I can felp you turn it off temporarily. I imagine if you want to go to dealer and throw money at it, they can sort it out.

Here's my thing, air bags do no save lives or keep folk from being ejected in a crash. Seat belts do.
To turn it off

Turn key from Lock to On. When srs light stops flashing and goes solid, return key quickly to Lock.
6 cycles turns it off. gl

I've done that one...but it comes back on.

Don't buy into the lie my friend...airbags do indeed save lives, there's no question according to the evidence, they just don't save every life as some accidents are too violent to human limits.

Driving safe saves lives, but even then you can't control the people who don't drive safe....hence the need for seat belts, airbags, and common sense.

Thanks for your help, I definitely want to be sure my airbag will work, still trying to figure out who's right.

Mine stayed off a good 3 or 4 mos, nvrd, I see your problem.

If I understand correctly, Nissan put an srs module under a seat. There is a dude on here,
DeusexMaxima
who might can solve this for you. He has a pretty cool ZR, gl

Were the harnesses 1:1, or was there one less on the new seats? But either way should be able to wire in an airbag delete resistor and then perform the reset procedure.

Good question...harness is missing a connection to driver seat since driver and passenger seats came from a different car, (no side airbags in the seats that got put in my car).

GREAT suggestion and thank you...wasn't aware of such a thing as an option....where does somebody get an airbag delete resistor? How do you wire such a thing in? I'm normal smartness, but certainly no electrical engineer...is this something I can manage without sending up smoke signals from a 350z explosion?

Thanks for the post, sounds like I'm close to a solution.

The idiots who pull out their steering wheel airbags wire a resistor across the plug, so maybe that's worth investigating. I'm a trauma nurse, and I'll take all the airbags I can get, based on my work experiences, but it's a free country . . .

Weld in roll cages, fixed mount seats w/head support, 6pt harnesses, hans devices, fire suppression, best practice, egress drills, make a safer car than a road car.

Of course a very bad idea on a street driven vehicle.

And hes running factory seats, just no seat airbag, so the analogy is hardly apropos.

I said the guys who pull their steering wheel airbags are idiots. My car's a base, but I wish I had the seat and/or a-pillar airbags. fWIW, I've seen some pretty good head injuries from bolt-in roll cages and a-pillar gauges, because these "race car" drivers weren't wearing a helmet to match their accessories.

Your points are well stated. As an xray tech, I would have to agree with everything you said.

I just bought a new drivers seat because my leather is destroyed from the stupid buttons on my jeans While I was searching for install videos I came across this one for a mustang

It's a long video, but close to the end of it he wires in a resistor to shut off the airbag light

Here is what I did but I have blown airbag on the driver side seat. Have yet to pull the SRS Module and get it reset to remove the airbag warning light.
