Default Cooling Fan Replacement Options

Hi all,

My cooling fans both stopped working. I checked that both connections are working with a multimeter during auto active test and ran 12v to the fan motor leads.

What I am wondering is if there are certain brands I should stick with or any that I should avoid when ordering a replacement? I see all sorts of mixed reviews online for TYC and Dorman, which seem to be the most popular like-OEM replacements. Some people say they didn't fit their Z, some say they died after a short period of time. I don't fully trust OEM either because this model had the problem in the first place and it is twice as expensive. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I assume "ran 12v to the fan motor leads." and they didn't spin up ? The EARLY pancake motors had issues.... for now to get the car back on the road... get the Dorman at Auto zone at least you will get a LONG WARRANTY.....I PREFER A USED OE WORKING FAN... knowing that it's a service item and keeping my eye on it.. I have spares is the garage so it will never fail ( according to MURPHY ) ....

Yep! I meant to clarify, they did not spin up when I ran 12v directly to the fan motors. I ended up going with the Dorman, we will see how long it lasts. Are you saying the newer OEM fans don't have this issue? (my model is an 06) Thanks!

Yes there wasn't a "recall" but there was a Nissan service bulletin ....
I ASSUME there was a re design...
