Silly question...
Happy New Year everyone!!
Doing laundry today but at the same time taking a peek under the Z's hood to make sure engine oil level is good and the other fluids are as well. The clutch fluid level is at minimum right now. Is it ok to fill it up with dot3 brake fluid? I know it says to do that on the regular brake thing but I just wanted to be sure before I fill it up.

Yay its Chari...
I believe dot 3 is the one to use. Some people change to 4 but if your topping it off it shouldn't matter much...
Happy New Year, and hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

Thanks
Was just asking cuz on the brake fluid filler cap it mentions to fill with dot 3 but doesn't mention that on the clutch filler cap and I just wanted to be sure dot 3 was ok to top the clutch compartment off with.

Both DOT 3 and 4 are compatible, so topping off with either would be OK. You should also consider that brake fluid does age, and needs replacing every 4-5 years. If you've never had this done (or bled either the clutch or brake master), you might consider upgrading your brake fluid to a high-quality DOT 4 fluid with a high boiling point (like ATE Gold 200) when you replace most of the fluid in the system.

Don't use Prestone Dot 3 Brake Fluid. It causes more problems than it solves. Stick with Valvoline Synthetic DOT 3 & 4 Brake Fluid. It will improve your clutch's performance, especially if you do a full clutch fluid bleed with it on an '07-'09.
