Default AC compressor

2003 350z.

I bought the car without the AC working. I found out a few months after I bought it that the AC compressor clutch fell off and was laying on my undertray when i did an oil change.

It now has been 3 years and i haven't really looked into fixing the issue but i recently was able to buy a used AC compressor (with clutch plate still intact) from a totaled Z for cheap.

question is...

is it as simple as pulling the old compressor off and putting the new one in? will it require draining the system of freeon and recharging it? can i just swap over the clutch plate?

thanks,
T

You need to hook up the new compressor, have the system evacuated and checked for leaks, and then have it charged with refrigerant. It's probably easier to swap compressers than install the clutch on the compressor mounted on the engine, but the compressor from the wreck may be an unknown quantity. Was the system charged when the co,pressor was pulled off,the wreck?

the compressor was working when it was pulled off from the wreck. I was not there when he pulled it off but some bright green stuff leaked out from it after he took it off. guessing its the freeon with color so you can pinpoint leak.

Then that's the compressor I'd use.
