Default squealing then overheating

Ok so i was leaving the gym, and on my way back i did a quick pull on the highway and everything was fine. Was pulling down my street and my car made a very loud squealing noise and the the temp started to rise. Not sure if this is common as im not very knowledgeable about cars and haven't had my Z for very long. And suggestions?

Sounds like your water pump. Did the squealing then go away, or it stayed?..

Wen I start the car the squealing starts. And then it randomly does it sometimes.

OK. Sometimes. This all just happened after that pull, right? No squealing before then?.. Was it raining? Were your belts wet by any chance?.. Just trying to narrow down the scenario.

It would always squeal when I started the car. I always thought it was my a.c. belt. And no it wasn' raining. Just now went out to my car and checked the coolant level and it' was extremey low. Not seeing any leaks.

Oh. Ok. Well then that makes me think it's one of your belts then like trav said. Did you check them to see if they're loose or worn out(cracked or frayed). Probably just need to be tightened a bit. As far as your coolant issue, I would just fill it to the max line and see if it runs hot again. If it does, and the belts are up to par with no squeaking, I'd suspect a sticking thermostat.. But for now, just check the tightness of your belts and top off with coolant.

Yea so my serpentine belt is starting to tear. Just picked up a new one. Filled the coolant up and I'll just wait like you said. Appreciate the help!

Might replace the radiator cap while you're at it. The coolant had to escape from somewhere.
