Window Rolls All The Way Up When The Door Is Closed
The driver's side window was not working right so I replaced the motor and regulator. The window works fine now, except that whenever the door is closed the window rolls all the way up. No matter how far open the window is rolled down, it rolls all the way back to fully closed right after the driver door is closed.
I have looked and looked for a fix to this and can't find it. Everyone says to perform the reset maneuver on the window, but I can't do that. The new window motor and regulator don't have the reset switch. I looked into that and new ones manufactured after a certain year no longer have the reset button, so I've done the alternate reset maneuver where you roll it down manually and hold for two seconds then do the same for up.
Even if it did have a reset switch, people with the same issue report that the reset did not fix it. Nissan wants to charge me $170 just to look at it, and their answer will probably be just to replace the motor and regulator with their overpriced ******** parts.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I'm all ears.

Run the window all the way up and release switch. Press and hold switch down 6 seconds after glass stops moving, press and hold switch up 6 seconds after glass is at top. Your window should now work correctly.
Check YT-350Z/G35 window relearn.

Sorry my reply is so late. The reset process I did before said to hold for two seconds, so I did your 6 second process several times and it didn't fix the issue either. Thank you for the suggestion though.
Just to be clear, do not use auto-up or down feature. Literally hold the switch with your finger 6 seconds after glass stops moving. You could do 10 seconds, consult the mfg or check YT 350Z/G35 window relearn.
Right. Don't use the auto up, just pull or press the switch halfway to do the manual window open and close. I have gone way past 6 seconds in my attempts but I will try again.
Edit: Oh, an interesting and maybe important bit of information is that this does not happen while the car is running. It only happens when the car is off. If the car is running, the window will stay in the same place when the driver's door is opened and closed, as it should.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem???? I just bought a used 2004 350z roadster, driver side window was failing, so I replaced the motor/regulator assembly with a kit from Rock Auto. I bought the one UltraPower one because it had the heart symbol on Rockauto because generally the reviews are good. The new motor didnt have the reset button on the motor like the factory one (I have heard this is the case with all the aftermarket ones after a certain date), so I followed the windows relearning procedure using half presses of the window switch and holding for 10 seconds in open and closed positions. I got the window reset and it autotravels correctly fully opened and closed. and if closed, it does the little 1/4 inch retract upon opening the door and 1/4 inch close upon closing the door. Everything seems to be working as it should.
The only thing it does weird, is if the window is fully open when you close the door, it fully raises/closes the window. Before replacing the motor/regulator it didnt do that. And the passenger window doesnt do that.
If I open the door with the window down and hold the door open and press the door closure switch, it fully raises/closes the window. so its the door closure switch that is causing this, not the shock of closing the door.
I have tried relearning the endpoints multiple times, I have tried removing negative and positive cables from the battery and touching the negative and positive leads together.
Did the others that had issues use the UltraPower brand, maybe there is a particular brand on Rockauto that works normally and some brands that have this issue.
I know its just a nuisance but help. With the top down its weird/dorky looking that the window goes fully up whenever you close the driver door. Its there is added weirdness that the passenger door doesnt do the same thing. If both doors did it, maybe it would be normal and look like a feature.

Hey Ragtop,
That's a really odd issue. I know the Z has some hidden features like if you hold the lock button on your keyfob for 3+ seconds, it will close the windows, the same is true if you use your key in the door lock and turn/hold it in the lock position for 3+ seconds. You can also open the windows by doing the same with the unlock button/position.
At 1st, this made me think you might have a defective switch, but if that were the case, then both windows would roll up/close, not just the driver's side. That being said, I think it's the UltraPower motor assembly. If you still have your old/original window motor, I would try rebuilding it and putting it back in (That's what I've done on my Z). There are multiple writeups/vids on how to take it apart, clean it, and replace the brushes. The brushes are the common failure item on these.
Good Luck!

Just a guess, but it seems like it's a defective/faulty window motor. The two people that posted in here previously both mentioned that they used an aftermarket/non-OEM window motor that did not have the reset button.
The OEM window motors are consumable items - namely the brushes as Icer previously mentioned. You can either rebuild them (as Icer suggested), or purchase new OEM and stay away from aftermarket.

I ended up buying another window motor, I bought the Cardone motor from Rock Auto that has the relearn button on the motor. Everything worked fine after that. So I think it was something with the motor. Believe me I followed all the procedures to the letter and the Ultrapower brand motor would not stop doing this.
