Hi All,

Car threw me a P0305 code. Took the coil pack out and it was covered in oil. I'm going to order a new set of spark plugs and coil packs and just replace them all since I'm still running the OEM ones.

My question here is, do I need to change the entire valve cover assembly, or will just the valve cover gaskets be enough to stop the oil from leaking?

Had the same issue and I only replaced the gasket.

 

You need the assembly. The gaskets are only perimeter gaskets, they don't come with spark plug seals. This is a VERY common failure an the VQ35 engine.

 

I'm doing this no as I type this. No sense in not doing the entire assembly. You can get the valve covers and all related gaskets from Z1 for around $450 shipped. Just do it all and call it good.
