Default 2005 350z clutch master cylinder problem

Hey guys,

Just joined. I am trying to figure out whats going on with my daughters 350z. She had the sinking clutch pedal problem. I read a ton of forums and the general consensus was that the master cyclinder for the clutch was shot. I bought one of rock auto, installed it and it didn't solve the problem. So I bought a second one, thinking the first one was bad. No dice, still now pressure at the clutch. So I bought a slave cylinder and installed it. The first few pumps I got some good pressure and the fluid came shooting out of the bleed valve. But it still was only pressurizing the last 2 inches of travel till the clutch pedal hit the floor. Ultimately I have been through 2 master cylinders and a slave cylinder and I still I have no clutch, not even a little. I pump bled the system AND I gravity bled the system.

Honestly, the only thing I can think of is one of the brand new parts I bought is bad, either the master or the slave. But I'm tired of throwing parts at it and I am scared to go to Nissan to tell me there is $3000.00 worth of "work" it needs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you started to get some pressure with the new MC and SC with no leaks, then there's likely some air in the lines. The bleeding procedure can be very finicky. Just follow the steps in the FSM over and over and eventually you'll get all that air out. The curly-Q hard lines don't help matters. Plenty of areas for air to get trapped.

Thank you. After reading several other threads on this, it seems like a nightmare. Guys spending hours trying to get the system free of air. It should take all of ten minutes to bleed that system. ugh.

The bleeding procedure does suck with all OEM components. You can bleed it easy-peasy if you get a different MC and the correctly fitting cap for a Motive bleeder. Only takes about 5 minutes at that point.
