Default I need help - My Convertible Top Won't Latch

Hi, I'm new here.

I bought a 06 roadster couple of months ago and I have a problem closing the convertible top. The motors worked perfectly but at the end of the sequence, the latch had an inch gap to the windshield. I have to pull down the hardest I can to lock the top. I tried replacing the top(not the frame) but it didn't work. I suspect it was the alignment of the frame, but does anyone have an idea?

I've been letting it stay shut since April 22, and today is the first time I've taken it off after the new top. I guess I need to wait longer?

As travlee said, you do want to leave the new top to sit out in the sun for a while. It sounds like the latch issue was prevalent before you put a new top on though, so hmm.

I have heard (and have been dealing with for almost two years) issues with the rear latch so this is interesting to see. When you pull the latch all the way down and get the top to fully lock, does it seal correctly? (As in, does it mount flush with the windshield?)

Also, be careful with forcing it down. ZR tops, as I have learned, have many fragile mechanisms and such that may break if you try and forcibly make it latch. You run the risk of breaking something else.
