Loud Noise on Startup!?
Does anyone else ever get a loud noise when first turning over the engine that sounds a lot like a metal-to-metal surface coming un-stuck?
I'm pretty sure I can feel it through the clutch pedal so it might be something in the tranny, but hopefully not the engine. It usually only happens when it's colder out, or if I haven't driven the car for a while.
(BTW, I know there's also a sticking noise that sometimes comes from the rear brakes, but that only occurs once the car has been moved.)

I get the same thing, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have found that this car makes a lot of weird noises. Until I notice something not working properly or feeling different, I don't sweat it. It's very good to be "in tune" with your car, but not the point that every pop, creak, and rattle makes you nervous.
I was that way when I first got this car though...
