I run 33-34 front and 31-32 rear, all the time. I don't change them at the strip. Yesterday morning it was 29 degrees and I was showing 28 front, 27 rear when I got in the car.

I have this same problem on my 2004.5 Z.

I can't fill up more than 13 gallons without gas spilling back out. When I get into the car the needle never comes close to F.

One week after this happened my SES light came on and hasn't gone away. I made sure my gas cap was tight and filled up the tank again but I still couldn't get more than 13 gallons and my SES light is still on.

Looks like I'll be taking my Z in for service soon. Anyone know of a good dealer around Costa Mesa?

I noticed this for a couple of weeks, so I took it to Nissan. The genius mechanic said that sometimes the light comes on early, to give you a warning. So I explained to him not only does the light come on, but the analog arrow is at the "E" line and the DTE is showing about 18 miles remaining. I had them order me a new sensor for the fuel tank, I think it was 2 sensors actually. Ever since they changed the sensors, I can now once again put 16-18 gallons in my car when it gets to "E".

I have never had a problem getting the car to accept gas at the pump.

Hey guys, I took my car into the dealer today to fix the gas tank. The dealer said that the problem is the sending unit and that it's going to cost me 50 dollars to fix it. Xephiron said this fixed his problem. Has anyone else had any luck? I just want to make sure this is the fix, I don't want to waste $50

I have a 04 Performance model 21,000 mi and it has started doing this. I use to be able to get 18 gal regularly and even hit 19 gal on one fill up. My needle will oly go to 1/8 tank below F mark now.
I have driven 50 miles after the needle has bottomed out on E the red empty light is on, and the gauge is reading -----.
I use to drive almost 400 mi. on a tank of gas according to the trip odometer so I may try to drive it that distance after a fill-up and see if I can make it. Have AAA in case I don't.

well, i've been driving since yesterday with the datameter on "------" for a while. I'd say about 40 miles? Let's see how long it's going to last me before:
a) I run out of gas
b) I decide to put gas in order to avoid a)

I can't believe there is no TSB on this yet. I think someone in here mentioned they had the gas tank replace in order to fix the problem?

Here is how my experiment turned out.
I drove 385.6 miles on one tank of gas.
Using my "A" trip odometer I had driven 93.1 miles after the Emty warning light came on.
Using the "B" trip odometer I had driven 63.3miles after the DTE read -----.
I was then able to get 18.29 gal of gas in the tank when I filled up instead of only 16 gal. I was getting.
385 miles on 18 gal of gas is what I use to get between fill ups. I always guessed I could get a little over 400 miles out of a ful tank of gas.
The needle still didn' go all the way to Full but it was closer than it has been on last fill ups.
I wonder if you completely drained the gas tank and maybe disconnected the battery if the sensor would re-calibrate itself.

well, wonder no more (at least regarding the "completely drained the gas tank", i didn't think about resetting the battery).

i noticed today (i have a 2003 z) that i filled up 11 gallons from empty a couple days ago and the DTE gauge read "225" which sounds about right , but then ive only driven like 100 miles since yesterday and the dte gauge has all over the place from being near 120 (which is prolly right if u doi the math), and the going all the way down to 55, then back up to 110 and the needle when i start the car is at E and then as i drive for a while on the interstate it shoots back up to 1/4 tank....****in weird......

I've had this problem over a year. The dealer can not figure out what it is. Right now, if you pump at the slowest speed, I can fill up very close to full tank... but if I go full blast, it stops at middle of the tank. It's annoying....

so yesterday i pull into exxon for the thrifty thursday special. my guage is at E...i start pumping to fill it up and it stops after taking in 10.6XX gallons...so i try to pump more, since it can't be full but she won't take any more gas. i get in the car and turn it on and the needle goes up to a quarter below F...this is the most annoying problem i have experienced w/this car so far...well, the feathering sucked *** also...

I've had my gas tank replaced from my local AutoWay Nissan dealer for this problem and it didnt solve the issue. I have since then delt with it and learned to live with it. I have found that holding down the gas lever about 1/4 the way in will allow you to get a full tank otherwise when my E light comes on, I'm getting only about 10-15 if im lucky. I just made another appointment for this issue. I just cant deal with this crap anymore. All I want to do is fill her up to full so when I go on road trips, I dont have to fill up all the time. Wouldnt you agree? Has anyone looked in to possibly getting it LEMONED out if your dealer cant fix it?

I've noticed the gas guage is a bit off as well..

I had 1/4 tank left in the 350Z. When i filled it up it stopped. So i decided to round it to the nearest dollar. Then splash.. a bit of gasoline spilled out.. So i stopped and decide to try again.. roundin to the next dollar. So eventually it went up to the nearest dollar w/o spilling.

So I put in 45L when the gas guage says 1/4 left.

Ok fellas, I work for the second biggest refinery in the US and we got news that the fuel level floats on some models (not just nissans) were experiencing problems. It turns out that some car companies have switched to using a float that contains silver and its actually the sulfer levels in gasoline that affect the silver on the newly designed floats causing a malfunction. In my particular refinery (chevrontexaco) we have rectified this problem by reformulating our gasoline to meet a new silver strip test prior to releasing the finished gasoline for sale. Im not sure how the other states are handling this problem. I also had the same problem, among other issues, with my Z and now i havent had a problem since we fixed this sulfer issue.

Does anyone have the number for Nissan North America consumer affairs because my tires are feathering again for the third time?

abstrakt, are you only having problems with your gauge cluster saying that its not full? or are you also having issues filliing the tank? i dont think that replacing the gauge cluster is going to resolve it. i have called nissan consumer affairs and i am awaiting to get my vehicle in for the regional rep to check out my vehicle. they have replaced the gas tank and ran tests on the new tank and checked the both send back unit and still no go. lets see what this guy can do......
