Front Tire Replacement TSB - Dealer scratched up my rims!!!
'03 CS 350Z Track
I went in for an oil change (I use my own oil: Mobil1 Synthetic and Mobil1 M1-110 filter) + Front Tire Replacement TSB yesterday. I instructed my service advisor..."PLEASE be careful with the rims, I have heard horror stories about dealers scratching up rims." My advisor told me not to worry.
I came back at 5PM to pick up my car. To my horror, my front rims were completely scratched/gashed up on the outer lip and inside the lug nut area. I complained to another service advisor (my advisor had already gone home). The advisor noted the scratches on my TSB worksheet and asked me to come back the next day. Furious, I opened my trunk to place my bag inside, and then to yet second horror, my Mobil M1-110 filter was still inside. I grabbed the advisor, showed him my filter and instruction written on the service sheet to "Use customer's oil + filter". He replied, "Oh, they must have not read the instruction"
I am going back into the dealer this morning to speak to my advisor and manager.
Wish me luck.

Nissan's service people are IDIOTS!!!!
They have scratched up my interior, ruined the leather on my stearing wheel, stained my headliner, scratched all 4 of my RAYS and ( replaced them after 4+ months, many calls, visits, and a lot of BS)
They are the lowest denominator of mechanic, careless and useless!!!
F'N Idiots!!!!

That's totally ridiculous.......
I try soooo hard not to have to go to the dealer for ANYTHING!
It's like if you bring it to them, you wonder what happened and what got f'ed up.....
I'm soooo glad I never buy extended warranties--- it would be like prolonging the agony of having morons try to fix problems while adding problems....
oh, well.

Came back from the dealer, here are my results so far
1. Scratched rims - the Service advisor claims "Not my fault" and asked me to come back next week when the service manager is in.
2. Not using the oil filter I brought in (Mobil M1-110) - "Nissan uses the best oil filter, the Nissan Oil filter, better than anything else."
This is disappointing.

You have to return and light them up-- don't let them off the hook. You should get new rims, (forget the filter for now). I think the lesson you learned might be: "this dealership sucks and does not care at all about you"
So the moral: fight for new NOT SCRATCHED rims-- they came in without scratches, they should leave the f'ing dealers the SAME WAY, right???!?!?!
And for oil: Do it yourself. I do. Its easy and your car isn't in their hands as often!!
just do it and good luck!

Don't give in. I had the same thing happen, and the experience was similar to yours. The dealer tried to weasel out of replacing the rims many times, but they finally did. What gets me is that the service staff was mad at me for expecting them to be responsible for what they messed up. I have subsequently found out that this dealer (my local dealer) is notorious for this type of thing and they're very dishonest. They've pulled so much crap in my experiences with them, I'm still in awe. It really makes you not want to take the car in for warranty work.

I feel for all of you i am in the same boat the z has a **** load of problems to deal with, it would be great if a least we had good service. I am on my third dealer and have found that they all suck. I have had all the z problems and its always scratch or break something, do more harm than good. I had the tire feathering issue, had two front tires replaced after being on back order for 4 mo. when they finally arrived same thing not to be a dick told the service advisor to be careful with my rims, because of the horror stories. I came back and was shocked to see both of my front rims lips and lug holes scratched like it was done at a Tijuana, MX tire shop, I come to find out that they had sent them out acroos the street to a tire shop, they didnt have the machine for the 17s. I complained and they first told me that it was beyond there control and they could not help it changing out the tire without scratching the rims. i talked to the manager who called another service advisor who said how did he know the scratches where not there before and that they appeared to be enviromental rocks from the road. They even took me to the tire shop to show me the process on changing out a tire to show me that scrathing the rim was not possible. the manager said he did not have the force to order me two rims that I had to wait from some Nissan higher up to come down and give the OK. The Nissan higher up did'nt show but gave the green light to order to rims for me, first it was not a nissan problem it was a dealer problem. anyways had to wait 3mo. for my rims to come in. This happens at all dealers the other day i had seen some track model rays rims in the back that they had scratched and they had to replace. i seemed i had to beg like it was my fault really made me feel uncomfortable. I love my z hate Nissan service, and yes they are a bunch of idoits.
