Default Hydroplaned.

Alright... get ready for this.

I was on a bridge when it was raining, and my Z suddenly hydroplaned and started to tail to the right and left. i was even going under the speed limit. after a couple seconds I was spinning in the middle of a 4 lane bridge, and finally hit the median. My car is f**ked up really bad.

They said that the damages were about 15,000$ and i was just wondering if anybody has gone through somthing similar, and knows the process of this. I feel like a family member died or somthing....

please respond with some info.

thanks

i guess you are on stock tires? when i switched to goodyear eagles, i got alot better traction in the rain.

I did total my car when it was dry though. It sucked bad. I thought life was over, but insurance covered everything and I have a new z and a new beginning.. just be thankful u didnt get hurt.

I hydroplaned all down I-5 in Washington heading towards Portland. I was going well under the speed limit and I think the combination of stock tires that were 15 months old, water, poor highway conditions, and cold weather add up to a really bad experience. I should have checked my rear tires before the start of the trip but I didn't have any issues in the dry. Stupid. Seems like the tread didn't wear evenly.

Cool and somewhat moist conditions are bad for these stock tires. I once tried to downshift and gun it in 2nd and my car barely moved. It sat in one place fishtailing and peeling out.

I wonder if you have feathering or uneven tire wear. Wouldn't that contribute to poor traction. Now that would be a good case to present to Nissan. Maybe they would fix it if they smelled a class action lawsuit.

ive hydroplaned in the rain while on the highway doing under the speed limit. i was more fortunate however and was able to get back in control before spinning out or hitting anything. it was very scary though and i drive even slower now in the rain. i have also noticed uneven wear on my rear tires. they look how the front ones looked when they feathered. think i can get nissan to replace them?? they only have a little over 10k miles but of pretty hard driving and some fun in parking lots .

It's good to see that you're alright and your car will be fixed soon so dont worry about it too much.
