Question Carbon on the exhaust tips - cause?

I've attached a couple pics of what is a surprising fast accumulation of black (carbon?) on the bottom of my exhaust tips. The only mods that would seem relevant would be my JWT popcharger.

I've heard that it can be attributed to running rich, but I have two basic questions:
1. Should I be worried about it as a symptom of a problem?
2. Should I just stop whinning and wash my exhaust tips on a regular basis?

I realize I'm opening myself up for a serious flame, but I've been paying attention to other Zs and don't see it as the norm. Any info would be appreciated!

That's pretty normal if you run @ high rpm, it is in fact becuase it burns too rich. Not a big deal, mine used to look llike that as well...the Borla's I put on do a better job of keeping the carbon off the tips becaue of its dual walls. Just keep washing it.

Same thing on my Z. But not as much accumulation. I just polish it about every 2K miles

Anyone have a safe way to remove the really stuck stuff? I made the mistake of not cleaning them well one time and now have a couple of globs that won't wash off.

Everytime I wash my car, I use the armoral orange rags on my dash. I then take the used rag and wipe the paint on the interior of the wheel wells/fenders. I then wipe my exhaust tips of with this used rag/towel. By then its pretty dry, but still has some orange agent in it. Wipes the tips right of good and clean. Then I just throw it away. So I get 3x the use out of those things. Just a little detailing tip. You can also use the used orange rags/towels to wipe down the interior of your sills.
