Default 5000 miles between Mobil 1 oil changes ok??

I will be switching over to Mobil 1 10w30 and the Mobil 1 M1-110 filter shortly when I go in for my first oil change. My question was is 5000 miles ok between changes of the oil? The car is used for driving back and forth to work and in town. I don't race and I have never been over 80 in the car and probably won't get over 80 for awhile.

I'm not sure what the recommended change intervals are on synthetic oil so I figured it can't hurt to ask.

Some synthetics can last a very long time, Mobil 1 included. 5000 miles is a good oil change interval when using Mobil 1, so you should be fine. If you like check this out for more info on an independent test.

I am on synthetic, and figure 6000, but I watch the color.
so far, 16K, there is very little discoloration after 3000 since the last change.
this also indicates that very little of the bearings are wearing, and not much blowby. pretty happy so far.

make sure you use a quality oil filter, some of the cheap ones only last 3k

I plan on using the Mobil 1 M1-110 filter with the oil.

as long as you check oil level periodically, it should be fine.

Nissans "Schedule 2" maintenance only calls for oil & filter changes every 7,500 miles or 6 months using dino oil. That is all that should be required to keep your warrenty. I do 6 months or 6000 miles with Amsoil ASL 5W-30.
