Default Dashboard rattle! Please help!

I have the most annoying rattle that seems to be coming from my dashboard somewhere in the vicinity of the 3 gauge cluster! This is so annoying and it sounds like my entire car is falling apart and my car doesn't even have 3k on it yet. Can anybody pinpoint this rattle, and if so please tell me how to remedy it It would be greatly appreciated.

Many have found that their "dashboard" rattles actually come from the rearview mirror. Try to hold it firmly (including the buttons) as you go over some bumps to see if it's the problem.

I just bought my Z roadster used with 5K miles and I have just noticed a rattling noise about in the center under the dash too? I will try the rearview mirror but it doesn't sound like it's coming from there???

That's what alot of the other folks have recommended, however it is not my rearview mirror.

i had a rattle coming from the dash panel all they way on the right side. it's a small panel in the corner. i just gave it a good hit with a fist and it stopped rattling. every so often it'll rattle again, and i just hit it and it goes away for a while.

It's the disc housed around the alarm LED light. Next time it rattles just hold this piece and it'll stop.

If that's the case, line some super glue around the disc.

You probably found the problem by now, but just in case.

If you tap on the dash just over the steering you will here the dash rattle. Do this when the car is off. There is a black round disk cover about the size of a quarter on the top part of the dash close to the windshield above the above the steering wheel.

I havent had time to look into this and see if there might be a screw loose underneath this disk cover. Put if you tap on the dash with the engine off you will hear where the rattle is coming from.

It doesnt bother me because my exhaust is loud and so is my stereo.

I notice my dash rattle after car had sat for several days in the "COLD" and when car has warmed and driven, the rattle goes away!! I think a lot of the rattling problem has been due to the COLD! Also when I go over speed bumps I hear squeaking coming my shocks or springs when "COLD" and after warmed and driven, the squeaking goes away!! go figure!

I had the rattle in same "area" as the red flasher on the dash. It didn't matter if it was HOT or COLD, my dash rattled.

I put a couple of black rubber washers inbetween the dash and the windshield and I haven't had a rattle since I did this. Its been over a month now and I live in Colorado.... very cold.

By the way, YOU CAN'T SEE the washers at all, completely invisible annnnnnd no rattle!

*The rear view seems more like a creak/squeek, not a rattle. To me anyway.

I had the rattle and I killed it by putting cut foam egg crate in between the dash and window. It works try it and you might like it.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you...I have rattles everywhere and it's very hard to pinpoint them! Does anyone know how to keep the passenger seat belt from rattling when unoccupied? I haven't found a way to tie it up.

You may want to see if it is actually your shifter that is rattling. Mine rattles over 4K and it soulnd like it is coming from the center of the dash. It is going to the dealer for a third time on this issue. Good luck!
