Default Pics: Black Injen SP1986 Intake

Installed it two weekends ago. Thought I'd post some pics since I haven't seen the SP1986 in black yet on the forum. Enjoy!

How does the intake feel/sound? Seriously considering buying one and I'm interested in first hand experience on it. Looks nice in your engine bay.

intake sounds good, but not as loud as my HKS only b/c the filter sits in my bumper now. it has changed my exhaust tone from the HKS but nothing detrimental.

install is easy, i took off the bumper to help make things easier for me so it took a little longer than expected.

the filter loves being down in the bumper with fresh air. i have a feeling i'll be cleaning it a lot more than any other filter but it's def worth it getting cooler air into my engine.

also, those worried about rain...i drove in a pretty bad ran storm this morning going 75 behind trucks and cars and the filter remained relatively dry.

Nice. How does it feel compared to the HKS?

The HKS seemed to flow a lot easier b/c of the filter element being the sponge type. The Injen however doesn't seem to flow as easy with the cold air setup (not ram like the HKS) but the tubing and filter of the Injen seem to stay cooler.

Throttle response seems the same, maybe a little bit better with the Injen b/c of the colder denser air. I bought the Injen though to lean out my high end rpms b/c with the HKS, Injen exhaust, test pipes I was running extremely rich around redline (flames out the exhaust). With the new design of the Injen allowing the MAF to be integrated into the intake piping the diameter changed where the MAF mounts. It's larger than the stock MAF housing.

So theoretically, more air is passing through the pipe than the MAF can read allowing the a/f mixture to lean. This is all theoretical and I have no dyno charts before and after to make the determination if this actually helped me out or not.

The next step performance wise is to piggyback my ECU with the Emanage Ultimate or UTEC to get my a/f ratio exactly where I want it to be. But I think this newly designed Injen intake may help me out.

I had an injen cai on my old car, acura tsx.... Honestly, it was more of a cosmetic mod, looked cool when the engine bay was showing, and made an awsome roar when i mashed the pedal.. but, i really didnt feel much increase in power with my car.. just sounded like im going faster.. How do cai affect the performance of the Z? feel any increase in performance... I already know the concept of better breathing to maximize performance, but compared to stock, any diff?

Without any dyno charts, i can't make a correct assumption that this actually helped me out. Feeling a 5hp gain at 6,000 rpms is extremely hard, but having it lean out the a/f that high might be more beneficial than those 5 extra horses.

Again, this is based on theory not fact
