Default Lemans Sunset w/Axis... Finally here!

Okay, we finally got the Z, and I got good enough pictures to post it here. The pictures kinda go in stages...

The Z is my Mom's 5th Z. Her first car was a 240Z (orange), so getting this car in this color is kinda memory of her first. She then had a 260, 280, and a 280ZX. I am completely obsessed and more into the car than she is... and am obsessed w/cars (especially this one).

We got the Enthusiast model and 19" Axis Se7en wheels on it.

More info on the wheels in this thread

Here's the pics:

Our Z in the showroom w/out the rims.

5.6 miles, woohoo!!

Rear Axis wheel/tire just outta the box.

My girlfriend and I putting a polymer sealant on the rims to make it easier to for us to get brake dust off.

Beauty Shot 1

Beauty Shot 2

Beauty Shot 3

We got the factory leather (no perforation).

Notice the license plate-has 2 meanings: Giving Axis a little plug, and my Mom is also a college math teacher... hence, Z-Axis

They're nice wheels, but they just don't seem to fit the Z for some reason?

What tires did you decide on and how wide? Beautiful car, BTW.

Are you sure that is factory leather? First thought was it looks a bit puffy. Second thought was my burnt orange touring seats are perforated, they put more than one kind of leather seats in Zs? I thought you could only get leather in the touring models, unless aftermarket? I know dealers will add it on, warranty it, and call it factory sometimes, is that what it is? Just curious.

It is Nissan leather, without perforation. That's the only difference from the other burnt orange seats. The dealer said Nissan told them they either A)quit making the seats with perforation, period or B) you can only get seats w/OUT perforation AFTER the car has been had.
Not sure which, and the dealer wasn't clear either. We're just as fine w/out the perforated seats. But it is "factory" leather, just didn't come with the car.

Chrome just doesn't do it for me either - clashes with your door handles. I personally am looking at brush aluminum every and anywhere I can put it.

That is way cool I have to agree with what was said earlier I think that is the first (at least for me) sunset that I have seen with chrome and on 19's. Although I personally will never by another chrome or white color rim I wish you all the luck! Nice buy!

As far as Chrome goes... I have noticed that chrome doesnt look good in photos on the Lemans, but usually looks great in person. I would assume it is becuase the Lemans really does change colors with differant angles... Cameras just doent seem to capture the true color just right.
I am buying 5Zigen Hyper 5ZR wheels for my Lemans, and I after seeing a few sets of chrome in person It has swayed me. True it doesnt match the door handles, but it does match the headlight housing and the rear emblem.
To me it seems a shame to put matte finish wheels on such a flashy color.... But to each his own...

Thumbs up

You are a lucky young man, and I DO NOT mean lucky from the "you're spoiled" standpoint.

You've got a cool mom rolling on 19s in a killer car and a super-cool girl who actually helps you out with the wheel polish. When I was your age I couldn't find a girl who wanted to do anything as remotely "un-girly" as that.

Well done, kid.

I'm glad your Mom's happy with her new car/wheel package. I was wondering how you went about deciding on the +20 offests for the wheels. I have seen the Axis se7en mods on another 350Z and they have a huge dish on the rear, probably 4 inches and it looks incredible. If I recall correctly that was a +35 offset on a 20x10wheel for the rear and a +35 offset, 19x8 front.

Talking to James Chen @ Axis Wheels (w/the yellow 350) and a couple of the reps, we decided on the +20. We really did not want the wheels to be up under the wheel well, we wanted 'em to be sitting out nicely, but not too far. We felt we'd want to get a spacer if we went w/ +40. So, doing this, it eliminated a spacer.
