Default New suspension: Tein Super Drift coilovers

Thanks to Rick at Status for the amazing deal he gave me on these Tein coilovers. i drove to his shop to install them today, here is the result...

I know that wheels should come before the drop, but i had no choice. Ordered the wheels a month ago and they take about 2.5-3 months to make. Also, the windows are tinted now, will post new pics soon.

Before the installation:

After:

The ride is very nice. It's set to medium stiffness, so it rides stiff enough but not bone shattering. The car has no sway bars and there is no body roll whatsoever. I don't think it needs any sway bars when it's this low. Freeway, at about 65-75 mph the car feels like you're going 25, it literally just feels like it's glued to the road. And that's with the stock 18" wheels.

Nice, but ... super drift? Aren't those like really hard? Like ... racing (real racing) hard? If so, say hello to bruised kidneys and loose fillings.

The drop is really nice though. Nice and even and exact. Tein makes some solid products.

How much ?
They retail at 1800+, Rick at Status gave me a great deal, so a couple hundred off.

Everything is adjustable (height and dampening). The rear right now sits at its lowest, while the front can go down just a bit, but i have to see it with the new wheels to do any further adjustments.

Spring rate, no idea.

As for the ride stiffness, don't be confused by the name. Someone recommended this setup to me over everything else, and that guy really knows what he's talking about since he's running the same on his g35. They can be racing hard if you adjust the dampening to the max stiffness, or it can be really soft if you adjust it and it'll feel softer than stock actually. Yesterday i was driving home from LA to San diego (about 90 miles) and some freeways in LA are so bumpy, the car follows every single bump. But then the road got a bit smoother and the ride was just perfect. You change a lane as fast as you want, the response is great. The tires flex a little, but the car stays flat. Anyway, if you're looking for an extreme drop and nice ride, these are it. Just because it says "drift" doesn't mean they are stiff, it only means that they are really good when it's slammed like this, the springs still function as if the car were at its stock height, sort of. Read about it, you'll see.

i disagree with your first remark, I think drop should always come BEFORE rim--meaning that you're on the right tracK! lookin' good, SLAM IT MORE!!!!!

can't slam it any more. The rears are all the way down, the front can go maybe another 0.5", but it will be uneven. Work wheels are coming, so that should change the look completely. With these wheels you cant really appreciate the drop because the wheels are tucked in a lot and the tire sidewalls are too high. In person it looks lower, on pictures it always looks like it should be dropped some more.

might be a dumb question, but do you have to install adjustable camber arms like you do for lowering springs with the coilovers?

You don't have to if you like mad camber and don't care about it eating your tires sooner than usual. I'll probably get a rear camber kit just to match it with the front camber because the rear wheels right now are / \, which is good for handling but bad for tires and probably puts more stress on your suspension. We'll see.
