Default Vandalism and garage break-in

Last night someone broke into my garage through the garage's back window. It appears they used my own scissors and can of spray paint that was sitting on my utility table to vandalize my car... Along with writing "F*g" on the inside of my garage door. All 4 tires were slashed, all 4 wheels were scratched and painted, my headlights and taillights were all scratched to hell and painted. I'm just glad I locked my doors when I parked it for the night. The police came and took pictures and information. Now I have to get a quote for all the replacement parts necessary to restore my Z to original status. Don't really know my mood right now. I'm feeling anger, confusion, and depression. Sad people would go through this much trouble to vandalize my car.
I'm just glad they didn't do any harm to the body, at least none that I can see yet. And no windows were broken.

I guess it's kinda our fault for looking over the fact that our backyard is very accessible...

damn, that's messed up. Atleast it's not too bad getting new front and rear tail lights. The rest should come off of the rims.

Time for some 06+ headlights and tails?

Time to put some Glass Bricks in that window. Sorry to see this. Seems personal. I'm guessing this is a detached garage.

Sorry to see that. Hope you can get it all fixed back to normal. And get a grill on that window!

The wheels were also scratched to hell with the scissors. I was happy that I waxed my wheels so the paint came off with my fingernail, but it reveals the scratches underneath.

We're about to board it up completely. No need for a window facing the woods behind my house.

Yes, this is a detached garage.

That's pretty serious. Its unusual that they would take the time to damage specific parts. Kids are so stupid they don't realise that the owner could shot them in the garage.

Talk with the kids in the neighbourhood, and offer a cash reward. Kids will brag about the vandalism.

+1 on the kids. Offer kids the cash and they'll rat out the culprits.

There really aren't any kids in my neighborhood. And it seems people around here can keep quiet pretty well as I still haven't heard who keyed my door a couple months ago.

Quick question. I'm gathering quotes for the replacement parts, and the wheels has me puzzled. The Nismo 19" wheels are cheaper than stock 18" touring wheels... Would insurance rather do these instead or do they strictly do whatever was on the vehicle? Or is it simply a decision by the insurance person.

Usually you get a price of all parts that needed to replaced damaged..and then they write you a check. Then you can get whatever you want...

btw, what 19 nismo are you talking about? and how much are you quoted?

I have State Farm insurance.

Is this covered under the house insurance or auto insurance?

The insurance will most likely deny the headlights and tail lights since those aren't the ones that came on your car. Insurance adjusters can get brand new 03-05 ones...they will also will take a look over the prices you got and items you listed.

Alright. What about the wheel issue?
Thanks for helping me out on this. First time this much damage has happened to my car so I'm lost in this entire thing.

No problem. When i was working down at the bodyshop, i helped my friend because his car was in the same situation. I sold his 06 headlights on here awhile back and the adjuster was very picky about the headlights being so expensive and had to look over the years just to make sure he wasn't making a false claim. Unfortunately, Nissan still have tons of the 03-05 lights. If they ran out of brand new 03-05 lights, insurance would have to get you the newest and latest lights that fit.

I don't believe you can get the 03-05 touring wheels anymore so you will most likely go by the 06-07 wheel prices (which is a good thing..lol).
