Default Blacked out my headlights this weekend...

...with the help of OverZealous1.

This little basterds friend broke when I was trying to put him in the socket, hence the blood and bandage.

The bulb broke when I was trying to put it in the socket. Note to self: Never force a bulb into place after you've been drinking.

Thanks for the comments!

If I had been sober I probably would have used a lot less force.

Thanks!

10,000K. A lot of people on this forum recommended against it but I like them.

I was hoping that you were going to put the clear bulb in there. Great job!

How long did it take? I'm thinking about doing it this weekend. Was it a pain to reseal the headlights?

You don't want to know how long it took us...

Seriously, though, you're looking at spending an entire day; just because of how long it takes for the paint to dry.

Thanks, I definitely recommend. It's one of the few things that greatly improves the appearance of the car and it's really inexpensive to do.

Actually, I have some LED bulbs in there that OverZealous1 didn't want. With the lower bulb resistance, they blink hella fast. I'll eventually swap them out for normal, clear bulbs such as the one that slayed my hand.

Nice job! It looks much better now. I'm going to get around to doing this one day.
I noticed you didn't do the oven method. Was it difficult using the heat gun? How long did you have to use the heat gun to seperate the housing?

I don't know how different the G35 lights are to the Zs but I wouldn't mind lending a hand. It's a pretty simple process, just intimidating as hell.

We placed the lights infront of a fire place for a little over an hour while we swung by the store for parts and got something to eat. Using the heat gun, we heated small sections at a time (6" or so) and used shishkebab skewers as shims until just the top portion of the headlight was loose. It took about 30 minutes per headlight to do it this way.
