Jewelz Track Daytona
Hey Joyia,
I'm in Illinois right now. Any chance I could drive over in my rent-a-car and take your car for a spin (literally)? I'll let you abuse this Alero I'm driving....
I am so paranoid about hitting 4K rpm before the break-in period that I'll probably just drive it around the block for 1200 miles.

Just rocked back from Chicago this weekend. What a great bunch of people! Big thanks to Frank, Chris & Jason. Let's definitely plan the next cruise!
Official break-in is done! No more guilt!
Pointfivezero--I'd have to pass on that Alero--LOL. Just let me say right now-there is no way you will be able to keep it under 4K for 1200 miles. I totally respect those people who are trying to do it by the books but this car just screams to be pushed! Best of luck with it. Oh, that must be one BIG block you have!!

JewelZ, it was fun drivinig with you, though I had to push it a bit harder than my usual break-in routine to keep up with you
Next time we should spend some time driving around downtown Chicago. Lake Shore Drive & Michigan Avenue are fun to drive & Sheridan road up along the north shore is as close as us midwesterners can get to the awesome PCH out west. Let us know if any of the pics from Saturday night turn out ok. I'm getting mine developed this week, hopefully some of them will be good.

JewelZ,
I'm not very fond of the brake-in rules set by the dealer and therefore most people. I got my car (Redline) at the beginning of the month and it has more than 1500 miles already and the first 500 in 3 days
I’m a firm believer than you must drive the car normally from the beginning and actually use the entire RPM band often. Always wait until the engine is up to operating temperature and do not abuse the engine or stay at redline for too long. I usually reach redline in the first 3 gears.
I've also taking the car to an empty parking lot and I can tell that this car is setup to understeer is most situations (as you have probably realized by now
. This is something that can be remedied with some suspension tuning and tire setup.
The rear of the car is very difficult to break loose with subtle changes in direction, and even if you press hard on the gas, it tends to understeer. I found it best to actually step hard on the gas while turning the steering wheel sharply and then controlling the rest modulating the gas pedal and counter-steering.
BTW, for anyone interested, the car actually reaches redline in 5th at 144 mph (indicated by the digital speedo).
