Honestly it's only 3 bolts on each side to release the front bumper but my car is pretty low so my arm won't fit in between to reach the bolts without jacking the car up so I removed those bolts/brackets and use these to make removing the front bumper easier (I retained 4 plastic clips for the top of the bumper and 4 bolts hand tightened to hold my undershroud to the bottom of the bumper).
Many people do it for style as well, I saw them on a lot of show cars out at Spocom Anaheim recently.. Helps match color schemes with additional accents.

A little back story on that picture: It was taken after just entering a bi-weekly car show held in a rich town on Long Island about 40 miles from where I live. This show takes place on a public road that the town PD compeltely closes for the event and has been going on for the past several years and until this year, all cars were welcomed.
For some reason (they claim it's space related issues, but that's BS), they decided to restrict access to only a handful of cars makes, and most happen to be $100K and up. They posted a list of accepted cars and some of the cars that were allowed were Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls Royce, "Super Cars", Corvette, Viper, GT-R, BMW, and Mercedez among a few others, but this is the general gist of what they're looking for. Every show there are a few cars, enough to count on one hand, that aren't on the list but they let in if they feel the cars are modified nicely enough.
After speaking with 2 different security guys working the show and then also the guy who organized the whole thing who eventually decided to let my car in. It was a good feeling being able to represent for the 350z's at an event that is far from being considered inclusive.
Fck ever going back though. The overall atmosphere is way too snobby for me. Too much obsession with the emblem on the front of your car rather than what you've turned your stock car into. They let in stock 328i's simply because they are a BMW, but the R32 Skyline that showed up got hassled by security. Most of the drivers aren't enthusiasts, just rich guys with bone stock exotics. I heard some smartass dude laughing and saying "They let this car in???" as I was parking. Of course I call him out as soon as I get out of my car by saying "Why do you sound so surprised my car got in" and then he back pedalled like a bumbling idiot and suddenly turned into Mr. Friendly. Then he found me later in the night to thank me for coming.

Almost had to let the toasters fly.
Seriously though my girlfriend goes, "I don't think he realizes we can hear him. Please don't say anything to him." I momentarily agreed to just let it go and pretend I didn't hear anything but that lasted for about 1 second after stepping out of my car before I changed my mind and called out to him while walking his direction. I just like seeing guys studder and change their tune when they're confronted.
