I would not say they dont respond well you just have to keep on the ecu. It is not as easy as install it forget it.
Trade cars and see if you still beat him. Driver has everything to do with it.

For one, neither of the drivers will be able to take full advantage of the opponent's cars and push it to its limits. Not all cars are the same, even within the same line of cars (i.e., 350Z). It will take at least a few runs to get a feel for the new car and get great times.
Secondly, if you break something, misshift and grind, burn up the clutch, etc what are you going to do then?
Third, do you really trust the other person to handle your car in such settings as drag racing, where beating the **** out of the car is necessary? (I baby my car for the most part, but at the strip, I will beat the **** out of it to the point of breaking things).
Personally, I've driven my friends' Prelude and 350Z. I was able to beat my friend's time in the Prelude, but only by .01 second. They were doing 14s in my car when I was doing 13.8s.

Ok you have a piont. If they want to find out that bad then it is their call.
Personally no one drives my car. It bugs me to get it dyno'd but if they are good freinds and there is a trust there .......you get the point.

Chris, thanks. What all have you done to your Z to get 13.2's? If that aint a secret - LOL!
Last night at the track I ran 5 times. All in the 14.0-2 range but one. That one was a 13.88
I'm getting frustrated. The faster my reaction time, the better the run. Here's my best run last night - starting from the top:
Run #2
.059
2.102
5.894
9.004
79.12
11.651
13.888
101.35

Just making sure, you do know that reaction time has nothing to do with your final ET and trap, right? RT is just how long it took you to move your car since the green light has been on.
Looking at the above time slip (and comparing it to a run similar to mine), it looks like your car is down on power compared to mine and your shifts could be faster.
Just so we could get one (launching method) of the many variables out of the way, I compared your slip to mine. Again, there are so many other variables than just launching, shifting, and weather, but for ***** and giggles, I'm posting one of my runs that have almost the same 60'.
2.107
5.798
8.852
81.81
11.460
13.665
103.10
You can see that your car is down on power when compared to mine and also (most likely) the difference between your shift and mine is giving you a slightly larger gap between our cars.
edit:
Remember, drag racing is based on skill more so than the car itself. I've raced people off the track and most Zs (usually modified more than mine and put down a higher peak power with slightly more under the curve) and mine are neck and neck with me usually keeping them at my door. On the track, it's the driver that causes slower ET and a lower trap.
My mods are just the usual mods that people have - a few mods on the intake and exhaust side. I haven't started doing anything fancy yet and I definitely don't have a tune.

Thanks Chris. Give me more to think about. I also forgot to mention I figured out what was cusing the sticking clutch in my case. I was doing my burnouts from 2nd gear and a fairly long one(s). So I went back to doing short ones from 1st gear.
Again, Thanks!
Again, Thanks!

Good luck at the track guys.
UPDATE: I've decided to instead of write a web based track time system, to write a desktop track time system. This way, you'll only be fooling yourself if you enter bogus times. As I get this going, I will post a link to my servers where you can download and install this application to your computer, and provide updates as times goes - free of charge.
I've kept all of my event times slips, and can't wait to enter them in so I can review stuff. Will need you guys input on how you'd like this to work, as I get it going.

John, I'll let you know how the 2nd gear burnout turns out. I've never had any trouble before and I doubt I will now.
As for your track time system, PM me or something. I'll let you know what other things you may need, as just the info on the timeslips aren't everything when it comes to drag racing.
