Default DFW: July 6th, 2007 Drag Race Day

Again, here I am with you DFW guys about yet another drag race day. I seem to have a couple of new people wanting to drag race, hence a thread about drag racing (I haven't made a new one in a long *** time). BTW, if you're not even going to come, GTFO of this thread or I will do it for you. No maybe's in my thread.

Event: 1/4 Mile Drag Race
Place: TX Motorplex
Date: July 6th, 2007
Time: doors open @ 6pm, race @ 7pm-12am
Price: $15 to race, $12 to be a little b1tch

Caravan: 5pm at Starbucks on Campbell & 75
We'll leave before 5:30, so if you aren't there, find your way to the track.

If you have any questions regarding any type of rules for drag racing or just something related to drag racing, feel free to ask. If you don't ask now and you get kicked off the track for something you didn't know (i.e., clothing, etiquette, helmet, etc), it's your fault.

I hope to see some of the older members that showed up once in a while there too. And feel free to bring other friends to the track. I may bring a friend who drives a Tibby and maybe a Ducatti.

edit - If it rains, then the track will close. I'll let you guys know in the morning of the race day.

What trio? You two don't go nearly as much as me.. even when combined.

Anybody got new mods? I've got a couple that do nothing but add weight and look pretty.

Just because we dont live there. We at least will show up and race.

I got Test pipes and I am going to strip the car. Not like you did Chris just the easy stuff like seats and interior crap. I am also removing the spoiler. I was reading a aero study on the mustang gt(first time that has been used in the same sentance). The spoiler on the mustang will cause it to loose 3mph in the quarter. So less down force but less drag. We will see.

Chill, ladies.. I was just kidding. (Damn the internet's inability to show tone!)

Man, I wish I had some new power mods. I can't do much anymore without spending too much money. I have a few different options in mind though.

As for the spoiler, there are pros and cons. Our cars don't need it as we don't accelerate fast enough to require extra downforce (read: friction) on our rear wheels. So, yes, it will only hurt our trap and ET. Once we go FI, then the extra downforce may be needed to keep the rear planted at full throttle.

It is so crazy that everyone will do 100+ on public roads but will not pay 15 bucks to do it legally. I think people are scared to find out they are slow and suck at driving.

Your right about that !

Is it $15 per run, or how many runs do you get ?

Also, can someone post the rules so all the unfamiliar can read.

It is 15 dollars to get in and you can run as many times as you want. It depends on how many people show up as to how many runs you will get. The last time I went I ran 10 times but there was not that many people there.

If you break 13.9 you will need a helmet. They have ones at the track you can borrow but they only have 4.

The rest of the rules I am sure Chris will chime in.

Yeah, I don't understand some of these people. They speed and then b1tch when somebody speeds. You can all do it legally if you just come to the damn track. Oh well, they're probably just too ***** to find out they suck. They can talk smack, as long as they've no proof of their lack of driving skills. Most people I challenge either never shows up. The ones that do show up, although they may have lost, get respect from me.

As far as the rules, here are the main ones you should be concerned about:
-helmet required for any passes under 14 (they have 6 they lend out)
-AC off at all times (condensation on the track is dangerous for cars with slicks)
-shirt with sleeves
-lower half of the body cannot be exposed (long pants and shoes)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask or PM me.

i can definitely vouch for that one... there have been three people so far that wanted to race me on the streets... when i tell them no sorry... meet me at the track if you want... they never show...

that's my reason for not racing when i go, i already know basically what i will do on a 1/4... i don't feel the need to run down it a billion times to find out...
i'm not perfect at it... but comfortable...

and yeah Chris is telling the truth on his side...

I'm going to try to go...but i might be flying out early the next morning to check out a car in NYC...so i don't want to be out really late. I need to be functioning correctly when i'm checking the car out...i can't sleep on planes. (Went to Melbourne and back with no sleep on the plane...that is proof right there.)

As for the food and drinks, I would assume that you can. However, don't quote me on that. You may want to call them and ask, if you are going to do that. www.texasmotorplex.com

You can bring food and non-alcoholic drinks. I think the booze is all they regulate. I bring food and cokes out there all the time...in big coolers.
