Default general impressions of next move

just thought I'd run this by the group to get an overall impression

I currently have a Pop Charger and am just about to install a UR Crank pulley and Kinetix plenum. Being that the BBQ is coming up, I thought I'd drop the change for the AAM reflash

I'm thinking that's not a bad way to go. But is perhaps HF Cats, headers, or possibly something else a better NA mod to run with now (and possibly before the reflash)?

The reflash seems just about as good as any other bolt-on piece

The reflash will give you a bump in power, but only if you have a nice compliment of N/A mods to go with it. Headers aren't really a must, but I'd suggest getting those HF cats and atleast a y-pipe before you reflash. Just my $.02

you´re better off doing the boltons before the reflash, or you will want to reflash again after adding new boltons.

yeh, AAM mentioned that if I added some pieces after the fact, a reflash wouldn't be that necessary. but it does kinda make sense what you're saying...

All I have is reflash, pop charger, AAM spacers , and UR pulleys, and I'm happy with the performance, although I think a Y-pipe and HF cats will be my next mods

If you plan to go FI and have some sort of engine management (i.e. UTEC/HKS F-Con Pro/GReddy emanage) I wouldn't go with the reflash.

I made that mistake (I now have UTEC). The reflash isn't necessary with my setup. Just money that could have been spent elsewhere.

Exactly what Bobby said. If your going to continue modding, even over a long period, save your money. AAM charges an arm and a leg for a reflash, which could be a utec and you can do your own tuning.

Not to mention if you get the utec, it will work for as many or as few mods as you want to do, NA. FI, and probably rocket assist modules strapped to the roof of the car if you really want.

well, not going FI. and AAM mentioned being able to spec the Reflash based on mods to be added (in other words, before the mods are actually on the car). and that it isn't a dyno'd reflash, so it's fairly cookie-cutter, I guess

Before they are added???? So they would recommend adding more air and fuel PRIOR to you adding modifications that are designed to allow such changes????

That doesn't make sense to me. I recommend adding all of your mods and then spec ECU tuning to your mods, if this is even do-able.

By the way, the Kinetix plenum is a lot of bling. You could get a spacer and the money saved plus the $595 reflash cost would get you a UTEC w/ necessary dyno tuning.

+1. Look at the cost of a tune-up. $500 plus. If you can get an additional 5 horsepower that would be a decent value. The problem is what happens after your next bolt-on or two. Is the old ECU settings taking advantage of your new mods? Oops. Time for another $500 plus tune up?

I don't think a Y-pipe or even the HF cats would do anything significant to need another reflash but I could be wrong. If I were you I would save up and have them do it all that the same time.

Your own utec and paying for a few dyno pulls as you add mods is way cheaper in the long run. Again, just my .02. Either way, dont reflash until your done with ALL the mods you want to do to your car.

We aren't tryin to bash you or AAM, just tryin to save you some money. Ultimately its your ride, do how you think is best.
