Talking May 26th, MIR Track Day..!!!!

Alright, Guys, like I promised many months back, I am renting MIR for the day for us to have a little fun. At the moment I would like to get a list of anyone who is interested and will to pay $50 for a day of ¼ runs, general social gathering and maybe even a BBQ if people want to come together and through up a picnic.

WHAT: Race Day, Full Access to MIR facilities ( http://www.mirdrag.com/v2/rentals/ )

WHEN: May 26th, 9 AM – 5 PM (Speed Unlimited Midnight Madness starts at 7PM that night)

WHERE: Maryland International Raceway, Budds Creeek, MD (http://www.mirdrag.com/v2/directions/ )

COST: $50 per person/ car that wants to race. There is no spectator fee, bring your family/friends at no charge. BUT Every CAR or PERSON that wants to get on the track must sign up on the list and agree to contribute $50 for the rental fee.

WHAT’S AVAILABLE: I have arranged both lanes to run (so we can race each other) and reserved for roughly 20 people. THIS IS IMPORTANT: only sign up if you truly believe you will be there. Every person we sign up is one more person that can’t come and if you don’t show, I have to make up the difference in the track rental fee. I will be paying for a majority of this, and am asking for a contribution of $50 from each person racing to help offset the costs of running 2 lanes and more then 8 cars.

Now that you have made arrangement for 2 lanes, this is sounding exciting. PM me your name and address so I can mail you $50. I would feel more comfortable if I paid in advance.

^^ C'mon big dog... You're getting free parts these days!!!

This sounds great. As we get closer I'll have an idea as to whether I can make it.

Bert, that is a whole day of racing... As many runs as you want

As for more people, it costs $100 for each person over 16 and I am offsetting the cost for everyone on this, the more people we add the more expensive it gets for each person after 16 drivers.

I am footing the bill for this guys, so I apprecaite any help. If people are not interested I can save $600 by not running 2 lanes. I can save another 600 by only having 8 people. THen then it only costs me $800 instead of what looks to be like $2,000 for roughly 20 people on 2 lanes.

Osix, yes everyone will pay when they arrive. No need to pay upfront, I trust everyone here.

Regards,
--B

Two lanes is the deciding factor for me. Two 350Zs racing side-by-side doesn't happen often. It will be fun. Just the bragging rights that day will be worth $50.

I'm all over this. I've just sent an email to my boss, requesting the day off. Once I hear back, I'll add my name to the list. I'm also going to see about getting a tow dolly for the day so I can bring the car and the truck. Alberto, we can toss your slicks in the back of the truck and if someone's got a normal size BBQ we can toss that in there too.

Yes Ill go 1/2 on the dolly with you. You put your car on it on the way up, mine on the way back if it breaks. I want to launch not worrying about pulling a Bob--->snapping an axle at MIR and having to pay a $300+ tow bill....

Alright, guys, I am glad there is the interest again for this.

IF YOU ARE SURE YOU ARE COMING, PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE RUNNING LIST. THANKS

I agree with Davidv, it won’t be often that you can race your friends and ultimately after this day everyone will truly know how they stack up against our other board Members. If you have someone you have been talking smack to and want to settle it once and for all... This is the time.

Just kidding of course. This is all in good fun. Just a chance for us to get together and if we are lucky, gets some tips from some of the more experienced guys on launching, powershifting, etc.

Bert, if you want a discount, you need to give us pointers

Also, as discussed before, I have arranged for them to open the Fuel station for Race gas. They have a shortage of staff during the day, so will ONLY DO THIS ONCE during the day. My thought is for us to have some fun early in the morning and maybe around NOON, have them open up and we can load up with race fuel for a comparison. If anyone has any other thoughts/suggestions please throw them out here.

I also want to tack on to what Alberto said..... If we race hard and often, that is a lot of stress on the car, even if it is only for a 1/4 mile at a time.... Please keep in mind things 'Might' break... I will of course feel bad if people break things, (including me of course) but I think we all have to accept that as either inevitable or just plain bad luck. Just a friendly reminder.

I am REALLY looking forward to this and hope to personally bring my times down to something respectable, say mid11's ..

PS. If people want to organize some type of BBQ… there will not be any food available on site I don’t think and MIR is a pretty far distance from anything resembling a restaurant. I might suggest a Grill, and some people agreeing on splitting up some food stuffs… I travel a constantly and am not exactly Suzie Homemaker. I can bring chips/ Soda or anything else that comes prepackaged and can fit in my front seat with my helmet ( I no longer have a trunk) …

Round 1 to kick things off and get everybody

Brent vs Alberto ---- gotta take out the big whp car right off the bat

Brent, the more I think about it $50 is a small price to pay for access to what I hear is an awesome track-and some time with Z owners. Cant wait man.
