The current committee that oversees rate changes for the consumers are in bed with BGE. Most likely those members are seeing some type of kickback. The Governor also received over 50k in campaign contributions from BGE. I remember reading this story at the wbalchannel.com that when the Annapolis senate asked that oversight of rate changes be handed over to them instead of this committee the governor said no, and that any attempt to do so would get a veto. Constellation Energy said if the committee was changed or disbanded they would walk away from talks over the rate increase. Its all Bullsh**T they are all F**ing each other and politics is so corrupt it makes me want to be one of them so that I can afford a turbo. Lol

um... our increase was more than 72%, we went from 110 to 225 a month...
Got to love the tree huggers and the politicians for letting this country grow for 30 years without allowing us to build new power plants, refineries, or drill for oil...
If you want to point fingers that is where I would start...

I believe that deregulation (and the current rate increase) was approved by the legislature in 1999. The current Governor and legislature have nothing to do with the increase. If you are upset with BGE and believe that the result will be windfall profits, buy stock in Constellation Energy.

Back then they thought it would be good for the consumer. They thought there would be competition in the energy market, however there is no competition and thus we pay out our ***** as soon as the deregulation goes into effect. For those of us who can afford it, it’s not a big deal, however not everyone is not that lucky – not everyone can afford to buy stock in CE and drive a Z,
“The current Governor and legislature have nothing to do with the increase” yes, I am sure Mr. Erlich's doesn’t set BGE’s rates, however Negations failed miserably over the rate increase and the motivation for lawmakers to change the upcoming increase is driven by pre-election greed and not public officials who want to serve the constituents who put them in office. If you are a betting man then you can bet on this, I guarantee that you won’t see the same governor after the election.

I hear a lot of talk these days about the pricing but few talk about deregulation. Anyone old enough to have phone service 15 years ago when AT&T controlled everything should also remember paying .25 per minute for long distance calls......no we have plans that give unlimited calls to US, Canada and PR for $35 per month. Things will change when more companies enter the market place.
