Trying to judge the weather 6 days in advance just isn't going to work. The weatherpeople can barely get it correct 1-2 days in advance, let alone 6. This will be a day of call if you ask me.

If it is going to rain (read: not sprinkle or spritz) anywhere along by 2:30+ hour journey I probably won't be making it...

 

the weathermen/women are doo-doo when it comes to extended forecasts.

The being said, the extended forecast is calling for 30% of rain Saturday night and partly sunny, highs in the mid 60s, during the day.

Generally no.

Front Royal to Big Meadows Wayside is a reasonable distance and time for a cruise (51 miles or 2 hours without stopping). This is also a short distance to Thorton Gap Entrance: you can take 211 east or west out of the park. Some members may stay overnight (say in Luray). Others may continue all the way south to Rockfish Gap. But the cruise is officially over at Big Meadows.

 

'bout how long does it take to get from Big Meadows back to the No. Virginia area (on the highway, not the Skyline Drive)?

We are going to start picking on ya for not reading the entire post! LOL. I am surprised no one has ragged on you yet for asking questions about things that have been posted... These are great guys and gals, but sometimes that lay down the hammer for asking questions that have been answered in the same post. Hell they got on me for asking a question about something in a dated post...lol. So I learned the hard way..no need for you to go down the same road as me...

Dont say I didnt care enough about you to warn you ahead of time...lol. Take your time and read all the post..most of it is list of people going, so it would only take about 15 minutes to scrub through it for the info you need.

Doing the speed limit (5mph over), which I would advise should take about an hour...to I495 not I496...lol

Yes, that map you posted doesn't have a thing to do with Big Meadows, it shows Manassas! (Which are mostly in the seats of the cars, right?) ;-)

you would have to go to the park website ...i doubt they have an actual postal address...might have to NAVI the park itself ....

Big Meadows is at the bottom of the map. Best way to head back (I highlighted it in red) to the D.C. area is to take 211/522 exit is near the tunnel.
