Yeah i think i need to call the officer cause im confused of the exact charge. He wrote the reckless driving charge which has a mandatory court appearance, but he told me it is pre-payable? I just want this to be reduced to a regular speeding violation

Find out the laser/radar targeting policy established in your state. If he clocked you at over 1 mile away, you may be able to challenge the ticket, citing an operator error, on the officers' part. For example, in New Jersey, a Superior Court judge ruled that officers cannot target vehicles more than 1000' away.

damn dutch, they didn't drop your ticket even though you were clean ? ouch I got a ticket last year doing 53 on a 35 and it was my 1st ticket, they dropped it to failure to obey traffic sign and no points on my license..and this was in ffx...ffx county cops are such ******...today one pulled me over in my accord for doing 55 mph on a 50 mph zone because I was in the left lane going too slow, that's what he said, or YELLED at me. Wrote me a warning and let me go..

Cops could care less how long its been since you've had a ticket. I told a DE Statie that I didn't have one in eight years, he was like, "Well you got one today!" (80 in 65 my first day on my new job )

Former policeman I used to work with said that pretty much anything over 10-15 mph is a ticket and 20+ is reckless driving (thought he said you could be looking at jail time if it was fast enough, and/or lose your license for a year).

If you think your lawyer could get you off, I'm sure 1200 bucks is a small price to pay for not driving for a year. All this advice is what they call 'jailhouse lawyers', might be able to find a lawyer that does free consultations although you may have to pay for an hour.

There are different kinds of Reckless driving....yours was Reckless (speeding) and may be written that way on the ticket. In VA, 20 MPH over the speed limit or over 80 MPH is considered reckless.

I got clocked doing 90 in a 65 near VT. The $300 I spent on a lawyer to represent me in absentia (meaning I was not present at the hearing) got my ticket lowered to 80 in a 65 and was a standard fine/points for doing 15 over the posted limit. $150 fine, and I can't remember how many points.

If you are concerned about your insurance company dropping you, it's best to get a lawyer who knows how to work the system. He/she stands a much better chance of working something out to reduce the charge than you do by throwing yourself on the mercy of the court and hoping the judge got laid last night.

Good luck.

Should be 3 points from the DMV. Reckless is 6.

OH HELL NO!!!!

If I bought one of those, I'd bring a gun to CFA and beg you all to take turns shooting me in the crotch so I could obtain the female status I so rightly deserved.

I think we were talking about doing that but not as harsh. Maybe just a few kicks to the groin.

My v1 has given me an acurate warning from up to 3 miles away in the Hills of the Casade Mountains and over near Yakima. While the Lazer function isn't really a "warning" but rather a "just got clocked" the radar has been so good that my girlfriend & I will be sitting there thinking "why are we getting a signal, I don't see anything?" Low and behold 3 1/2 minutes later here is the cop. Crazy!
