wtf...i was driving today under moderate acceleration in third, and my engine just turned off...at first i thought the vdc had kicked in since it was wet outside..but it turns out my engine shut off (i just had to stomp the clutch and drop it to get it to start back up since i was already moving).

i haven't done too much research on this..but could this be because of the '06 oil consumption bs?

 

I'm thinking the RL kicked in which caused the engine to shut off. I could be wrong take it to the dealer and see what they say.

I just popped my hood...

My pop charger was completely detached from the Venturi ring!! I've heard of ppls pop charger falling off...but detaching from the Venturi ring? That's kind of weird.

What should I be doing now? Should I open up the plenum and check if anything got into my engine? This is some extremely noobsauce crap to happen to me. I'm guessing I should clean the MAF sensor?

well, at least the prob is solved...i put it on nice and tight. hopefully it wasn't like that for long. either way, i will prob be getting a new engine from nissan...not very comfortable to know something like this happened though.

 

Reading ur first post without reading any further to what happened, my immediately thought was "he must have an aftermarket intake, most likely a JWT popcharger," after looking at your sig... there it is! "JWT" and I know you don't have the twin turbos from JWT so it obviously was the popcharger. Happens all the time buddy, people's car shutting off because of that mod, that's y I preached "Stock Airbox FTW!!!" for 2 yrs, no one believes me =P

Yeah well the JWT Pop charger problem usually has been either higher speeds / accelerations. Granted he has a JWT pop-charger sounds like it fell off...something I can't say I've heard of really. Hope nothing got into your engine. How far did you drive it? Did you pull over and check it out immediately? I think if something got sucked into your engine you would have heard it by now.
