Does anyone know about the race track behind Dulles Airport? Is it a public track, or is it for police training? I'm interested in finding out about it.

Can you post a close-up of the white concrete loop on the south-west corner? Does that look like a banked loop to you?

 

damn good eyes man!!i google earthed it and it looks to be either a r&d center or a training facillity..hmm...wonder if they would rent it out?? outer ring for some faster runs and cone off a course thru the center for some tecnical stuff ...would be fun...chances of happening...0...

 

Considering who it belongs to, I seriously doubt we could rent it, but wouldn't that be nice?

Kinda looks like it is part of MWAA.

Definitely looks like it is a drivers training facility for officials. It has lane markers and everything, it's obviously used to simulate public roads and either pursuit, evasion or high-speed handling.

 

wow, i have always wondered what that track was for. i see it everytime im landing in dulles.

 

Back in highschool my justice and law class took a trip out there. The FFX police use it for training. There is also a skid pad there that they juice up with lots of water and also a shooting range too. They took us out in Crown Vics and got pretty crazy, thats when I realized how slow those things are.

 

I've got a buddy who is a State Trooper. The driving portion of his training took place on a track the state owns. I would guess that's what it is.

 

looks like fun. One of friends is a trooper too. he loved the test track and trainning course's

 

I work right by there, it has steal gates around the facility, so dont try. It is a training course for the DMV, Police and government driving techniques.
