Looking at a house in Columbia.
looking at a house on red haven road, in Columbia.
It's not far from snowden river parkway.
For the people who live in the area, is the area yay or nay?

Hey Jeffie. That area isn't horrible but a real estate agent I was talking with says that certain parts of Columbia are depreciating due to an influx of section 8. Just some food for thought.

Odenton is 17.
there's also a house in Odenton right down the street from where I live. not as nice as the columbia house, but it has a nicer yard and a deck. the Columbia house has no yard other then the grass out front. no deck either. =(

section 8 housing is more toward the mall! You'll be aightttt. And that's also 7 min from my house!!! I'd say do it! Everything is pretty close in that area as far as shopping centers and if you don't like chain Resturaunts you're only 12 min away from old ellicott city. Goodluck!! Hope to see your z in the area

Roof/water penetration, structure (foundation), and home systems (HVAC, electrical) are the most important things to look at. If most of that has been kept up and maintained you should be ok. Changing cabinets, appliances, fixtures, etc. is the easy part and adds quite a bit of value.

The main thing that makes me think twice about the home is 80 mile round trip to work, (edgewater) and also rising rates. If the rates go up, the house prices go down. So, to hold off, or to buy now? I don't know.
