I am thinking I may go up to a "friendly" station tomorrow, like 10 minutes before they close so they wont have to deal with me and they can exempt me.

If I do the test and fail, I will update thread and PM you! Appreciate the offer.

I go through this every two years also because my car is out of state. I call them and tell them i am out of state and they tell me to go do emissions in that state im in. I tell them SC doesnt do emissions. So they give me a form that i have to take down to the local police department and have them fill out. It just states that the car is in SC. Thats all. They dont check my ID or anything. Take a trip to SC and get a form filled out. You will be good for at least a year.

Or there could be a state thats closer that doesnt do emissions. Maybe DE or PA? Go get the form filled out there. I can send you the form if you want.

WOW it's that easy?! Would it work since DE or PA are only a few hours away from MD?

Im not sure if DE or PA have emissions (maybe they do). But if they dont...then yes its that easy. I would recommend going to a college police station since. They have to fill out these forms for out of state students pretty regularly so it shouldn't raise any red flags.

Did the police even look at your car or it's all paperwork process involving no physical test?

Damn Joe I didnt even think of that out!!

I think PA does not have testing.

I may have Brian have it signed if hes willing to for me, and I can ty that route. Once you get it signed you mail it in? Walk it in to a station, what?

Email it to me Joe - my work account.

Form number EP-009 on the MD MVA website. Look at section 4. All it asks a police officer to do is verify that the vehicle listed on the form was observed out of state. You turn that in and they will let you renew. Now sometimes it only works for a year and then they make you fill out a new form, but as long as you fill out the new form they will let you re-register. I have lived in SC with two vehicles registered in MD for 7 years and it has worked every time.

It depends on the officer. I have had Officers sign off without even looking outside at my car. I have also had officers make sure the registration, VIN and tags match. The last time they even called my tags in to make sure it wasnt stolen or something. But they still signed off every time.

You can get the form off the MVA website. Its EP-009. I thought i had it saved but i dont i just looked it up.

I usually just fax it in. It takes 24 hours to get into the system. But usually the next day i am free to renew online.

You just now found out the rollers are gone?
All they do is check for a CEL, if you don't have CEL you'll pass.

PA has emissions testing by OBD plug-in and visual inspection for cats and a million other inspection criteria, sorry guys. That is why I will most likely register in FL within the next year.

I takes roughly ~50miles for the stock ECU to cycle after clearing codes so they don't come up as pending for the test. The worst is most likey still coming for you guys, in PA the data is all sent to a state database on plug-in and it even tracks to see if you fail for the same reasons every year so the can see if you are gaming the system. Also, doesn't the OBD port automatically tell the computer the car's VIN
