In fact the very first car of the day came spinning at me like a top (going 40-50mph) and I was forced to run and dive out of the way (I was 50+ft off the racing line). Don't be complacent when working....stay vigilant.

CDC courses tend to be more novice friendly (slower as well) than SCCA though, and I have never seen or heard of something so dramatic happening there....

Dammmmn Mike!! I would have shat a brick if I saw a car coming at me at that speed! We don't have many spin outs except at Bowie...lol. That's one fast lot. At the NCCA we can walk it about 4 or 5 times + a novice walk. I take a couple of walks then do final prep on my car. I will have my air compressor so anyone can add air to their tires if they want. I will also have tools!

The fedex lot is huge....and the courses are WAY faster than most of the other clubs. They are fun though. I plan to run Autocross Incorporated next weekend....which is basically SCCA. I remember being a bit sleepy going out to work the first heat.....after that car came at me I was wide awake, and my eyes were as big as dinner plates man.

Also, CDC doesn't use the lower lot like BMW. It's a safety thing because of the narrow transitions.....

Yeah those transitions can be quite difficult to navigate if going to fast. The course designer used them very well last time. There was a beautiful sweeper between the two curbs along with two alternating gates after the sweeper to exit the transitions. I was hauling tail through there!!

^see you there. I have decided to make a concerted effort to win the regional BSP crown next year.........meaning money. 295 or 305 A6's all around, ridiculous strano front sway bar, stiffer springs (~700lb), nismo diff, no muffler (), and some other little things. I know I can't win divisionals against the evo's, but they don't attend all the regional events. Plan is to just tally up points at every event.

Edit....just remembered that the EVO's got bumped to ASP . Just have to deal with the STI's now. The evo's have to deal with the Z06's now.....that'll be interesting.

Off topic: Is it really true we can't take pix at this event? Read the rules over my lunch hour just to make sure I have everything done by Friday night/Sat morning.

You can take as many pics as you wish, but you cannot while you are working.

~90 cars now registered. Just heard through the grapevine that the Porsche club event had to be canceled due to paving issues in sykesville.....this will likely spike attendance a bit. I'd expect a full field of 120-125 cars this weekend. A nice mix of makes registered as well.

You'll be fine....I wouldn't be shocked to see you pick up 20 seconds from your first to last run....

How serious are they on checking the drivers licenses? lol

I just received a letter in the mail on Wednesday revoking my lecense until I could prove my identity. Apparently some other person stole my info and obtained a license under my name BACK IN 1998. The photo recognition software picked it up a week ago and revoked both licenses until identity could be proven.

I already submitted my Passport, social, birth cert, etc... but the investigator said it would take 1-2 weeks to clear... Sigh....

Sooooo.... how important is that license?

They don't check your license at CDC, but driving on a revoked one is no bueno.

Here are some of the courses from CDC at Bowie this year:

It's a pretty small lot when you don't use the lower section, but it has some character.
