Default Window Motor

Anyone have any problems with their windows not going up and down any more. My driver side window is not working very well at all. I have to push on it to make it move. Any idea how much a new motor is for the window and how much to install. Really sucks!

My passenger window motor has been dead for quite a while......very, very common on our cars.

I opted for the soldering method and it only cost me $15 to get the window working again.

ive gone through 3 different window motors on the driver side within 4 years... it sucks, have u thought about ur railing? goodluck tho, it gets really frustrating, lol i would slam my door and it would start working, i wouldnt let the window roll all the way up or down cuz then i was SOL to get it back to normal

The problem isnt always the motor. The motors die because the tracks inside the door are improperly aligned, and they seem to "settle" or get worse over time. That makes it harder for the window to go up and it prematurely kills the motors.

Ive swapped out the motor 2X in my Z. When it was broken into and the window busted, PFS realigned the tracks and new window. Now that side is twice as fast with an old motor as the drivers side with the new motor. He did say it was a b!tch to align though, but thats the real solution.

my window has a mind of its own. I always have to get out and use my key in the outside lock to roll it down but thats a pain in the ***. does anyone know if there is a tsb or an open recall on this issue?

Man I've been looking into some more insight on the window issue (as Ive been through 4 motors in the past year). So windown realignment is a possible solution?

I had the same problem and all i did was take the motor apart and clean the contacts on it. Worked great and haven't had any problems with it for months.

Just don't take it to the dealership... I made that mistake, and now I can't take the door panel off anymore (they overtightened the screw, and now it won't unscrew). I need to take the door panel off to put the washer and nut in that they forgot to put back in when they replaced the motor.

Previously I had taken the motor out and cleaned the contacts, but I found I had to re-clean it every few months, so I let the dealership replace it since it was still under extended warranty. Stupid me...

So why not take it back to them and tell them to fix the fawk up they produced?

Because I don't trust them. To be fair to them, the service manual doesn't list torque specs for re-installing the door finisher. Guess that means the impact wrench is OK to use...

They've screwed up other stuff in the past, which contributes to my not trusting them. If this were the only issue I've had with them, I would certainly have taken it back. At this point, I feel confident that I will do a better job fixing this than they will. I'm done giving them opportunities to F my car up.

$100-$130 on rockauto.com...

my driver's side went up and just got one there and took to a friend's shop.. cost me like $160 total...

now my passenger side one is f'd -- you hold up the button to bring it up and as soon as you let go, the motor goes back down.. probably try to clean it the next free weekend... hahahaha, have to throw n the child lock once i get it all the way up so it'll stay..
