VA: Rolling right hand turn=Reckeless driving

This is getting a little out of hand.....
At what point is this excessive punishment that does not fit the crime?

This law conflicts with another law they currently have therefore it is easy to fight in court.
A red light in the books is treated as a stop sign. We all know if you run a stop sign or as most would say, come to "a rolling stop," it technically is considered a moving violation but carries a penalty of no more than 3pts on your record.
I don't understand why "making a right hand turn" at a stop light is any different than making a "rolling stop" at a stop sign. Sure you're breaking the law, but it should definitely not be considered "reckless driving."

To the 2 "out of towners"....Im of the opinion that right turns on a red signal should not be allowed as a whole. It would probably get rid of a lot of accidents and especially those involving motorcycles where the person "did not see them coming".
E10: I think VA in general has an issue with excessive traffic penalties and enforcement. No.Va gets picked on statistically but there is a larger density in this region of VA. In the end it all comes down to the infamous "discretion of the officer" regardless of location.

Police state for drivers. Is this law to combat the state deficit in VA, or are the driving laws in VA just made to be a pain in the aZZ?
I would easily bet that every member on this forum at one time or another has been guilty of a rolling stop, this is for those who say follow the rules of the road.

At least they got rid of the $3000 fine for speeding over 80mph. I'm not advocating driving over 80, but that fine is just too harsh.
As someone already said, this is probably just a way to increase revenue.
