Default PDX and Track Trials Registration still open

Registration for the SCCA Summit Point main circuit is still open. The information is here: http://www.wdcr-scca.org/TrackDaysTr...9/Default.aspx. Even if you just come out and see what's up- it's worth the trip. Track Trial is like time attack and will be Sunday only. Performance driving experience is Saturday and Sunday. If nothing else, come see what it's about and have a Z meet.

I was up there for a bit hanging out today....may head up again tomorrow. I wish I would have had some initiative and replaced my front rotors so I could play, but oh well. Probably the least "dramatic" track day I have witnessed....considering there was a fair bit of traffic.

One of the grid workers commented, "if we get through the first session without an incident, it'll be a good day." He was right. Had a few go off but nothing major. Two black flag all to get the tow truck out and let it do its job. This was the largest beginner group ever from what I was told. One was a ZR1- a 638 hp beginner- geez!

Tomorrow track trial (time attack).

Fred (FFR Roadster) will be driving Ben's FFR Daytona tomorrow....it should be quite fast. Also going to be a continental tire FR500C Mustang running tomorrow....should be fast as well. I have a few things I have to do in the morning, but i am hoping to make it up for the two afternoon sessions tomorrow.

^ Yup, Freddie in the Daytona Cobra was very fast. Fastest or second fastest in session 1. Eric K. in his Subaru Impreza RS was second fastest I think. Amazing. It's all driver for sure and shows what a good driver can do in a decent handling car. "Power is nothing without control." The Daytona and Subaru were both very fast. The Subaru was flying through turn 10 maintaining that speed for the long straight. There were two fast Mustangs there also. The one you mention and a white one that was a Grand AM Mustang Challenge car and driver. Saturday had a Rousch Mustang in the PDX and a newbie in a ZR1 (that's right fans, 638 hp of "I never drove on a track before").
Here's some pictures from the day:

Heard through the grapevine that at NASA (at summit point) today the ZR1 was put into a wall....

very sad.

A Z06 was also destroyed in one of the early sessions. Sounds like it was a rough day.

Ouch. Hope he had track insurance. The guy in the ZR1 seemed pretty calm and on the track I did not think he was overly aggressive. I heard his instructor said the car was so good, it would compensate for his mistakes. Maybe he did something the car just could not deal with.

The guy in the ZO6 I don't know but the older cars (2007 and older) are twitchi anyway. The new ones can be had with the same suspension as the ZR1.
