Default raced a gs400 a few times

well it was my 2000 gs400. completely stock with 28K miles on it. i let my little brother drive my gs and i was in the Z. we went for a sunday cruise to see which car was faster. overall they were about equal (as i thought they would be). we did runs from a stop, 10, 20, 30 and 40mph til about 100mph. the Z only started to pull a little after 70mph. the funny thing as the gs was the one having traction problems. i dont race often but i had to see what my Z could do against my gs. by the way, the gs has taken out a few mustang gt's and others, so its not as slow as it looks. peace.

Dude, the Z SHOULD kill a stock gs400. Maybe you need to floor it.

what do you mean by kill? seems like 0-60 numbers are within a few tenths of each other in most mags. or, maybe my skillz just suck. either way, i cant see a 350z killing a gs400, bmw540, etc.

I just looked up the numbers for a 0-60 on the gs400, and its a 5.9, so I stand corrected. Sorry for the flame, I guess I was thinking of a gs300. Still, I think the 350z should have an edge.

Get a Swift intake and ECU upgrade, around $550, instant 30 or so HP gain, then race your Z again.

Seems to me that the base dyno run is alittle low, dont ya think?
And the run with the mods is about even what a STOCK Z SHOULD be dynoing in at..IMHO

EDIT: oppps, its a dyno of the lexus. My bad

5.4 VS 5.9 to 60 is a HUGE difference, learn to drive bro

btw, never line up next to a CLK55 in your GS and think you will be even close, I am warning you ahead of time, everytime I take my dads CLK out every freakin GS owner thinks he wants to run (either they aren't car fans and think it is a clk430, or they like to be toast). The CLK55 is an auto, I just floor it and smile-NO CONTEST!!

yeah i gotta learn to drive better i guess. and yeah the clk55 is a beast. any AMG is a beast.
but regarding the 5.4 vs 5.9, youre taking the best magazine time vs the worst magazine time you can find bro. ive seen Z's tested at 5.8 and gs400's tested at 5.7. i know you love your Z and all, but try not to be too biased.

trust me the 400/430 are no joke. it seems odd to me that you were able to start to pull after about 70. elevated speeds are where the GS shines. especially with some mods. good runs. damn i miss mine........

Very true, slap on a Swift supercharger, instant 400HP to the wheels, and since the Aristo is so popular, plenty of body kits from Japan.

unfortunately, there is no such thing as a Swift supercharger anymore. they have gone all turbo (300) and twin turbos (400/430). but for 35 large you can get an engine that looks like this...

and will give you a dyno that yields 440 hp and 460 tq at only 11 psi........

i know, but they have discontinued them (swift). you can get the rod millen supercharger through a place called UPRD. unfortunately they dont have an ecu to take advantage of the pressurized air. over the last 3 mos, i have looked at every available F/I (spoken with Mo (owner) and Marken (CFO) of swift on several occasions about the S/C) option for the GS and now TT seems to be the only thing. unfortunately, it costs more than what i paid for the car

oops, I didn't realize that, those are the #'s that popped off the top of my head (I do remember seeing some over 6 sec times for the GS400 though)

Weight means less and less at speed.
