Jealousy is an ugly thing. CLS's are beautiful cars, very smooth and comfortable - but it will not keep up with a Z.

hey guys...my name over on that forum is TypeSKiller....I was the one who called BS on him in the beginning....very amusing thread.

 

I have a CL type S and race with my friends 350 all the time and it is always a good race. He pulls on me off the line, but on the highway from 80mph I'll pull (slowly) but it still pulls.
He has a CS Track model stock, and I have the basic bolt on and auto trans. I'd like to see him against a 6 speed CLS. In the end we have alot of fun. As soon as it stops snowing i'll post some vid's.

 

so if you're pulling a Z on the highway...then you must be trapping over 100mph in the 1/4 mile....and I haven't seen ANY Bolt-on CL-S autos trap over 100mph. In fact TypeR with his 3.5 motor and bolt-ons only traps a little over 101mph and that's in VERY cold weather. In cold weather Zs are trapping over 100mph easily...

So....either
A: You're full of it (which I don't think is the case...but could be)
B: Your friend is putting his car in 5th gear to race from an 80 roll
C: Your friend's car has something wrong with it.

 

Haha, pathetic bastards. They should hold on to the steering wheel tightly with both hands when they drive their acuras cause you never know when that transmision is gonna blow, hahaha.

The Z may not be perfect (no car is) but one thing is for damn sure, that VQ is not gonna blow, HELLS NO.

It's real close, at 80mph im in third right at v-tech @ 5100rpm so when we hit it (I pretty shure he is in 4th) I start pulling (real slow i might add) but my car pulls. What helps me is when he shifts, i get about a 1ft, jump. At around 120 i'm maby 1/2 car length ahead then i shift and he comes back up and were about side by side from there. That couldn't be any more true, my trany is a piece of ****, already replaced it once already. A Z is coming though, so that should solve all my problems!

 

There's a bunch of modded CL-S guys around here. Hopefully I'll get a run with a few in the spring.

Well there's his problem right there (if this did indeed even happen), he should be starting in 3RD GEAR at 80mph. He'd still have about 12mph left in third and it gives quite a good jump.

As for keeping up with him above 110...I'm going to have to call TOTAL BS. You're CL-S goes into 4th at 110 which is the first of TWO overdrive gears. At 110mph the Z is still in it's VERY SHORT 4th gear, and even around 115, the Z switches to 5th which is 1:1...still not overdriven. All the guys on the CL-S forums know that after 110 an auto CL-S is DONE.

Either you made the story up, or you beat a driver who was shortshifting or otherwise improperly shifting.

 

I already have 450 miles on her. lol Just give me another month and I'll be set. I'm sure the engine will still loosen up a bit for the first 10k miles, though...
