Bullitt, Z06, SS camaro: here's the facts.
I believe the point has been made. The Nissan 350Z is a nice car. The lines and curves are astounding. The little V6 engine really huffs and puffs. The transmission is quick and responsive. The interior is stylish. But the fact of the matter is that their is very little comparison between the 350Z and muscle/sports cars. The Z06 is faster. The SS/Z28/Trans Am are faster. The Mustang Bullitt GT/Mustang GT are faster. PERIOD. There are no "IF'S", "AND's", or "BUT'S" about it. So what? Throw on a few mods and maybe then it will run with these cars. It's nothing to be ashamed about. And its DEFINITELY nothing to make yourself sound like an idiot about....

My original reply to this post was that magazine times are good for comparison value, nothing more. But apperently nobody can read because I got flamed anyway. You people need to learn to read.

As for the discontinuation of the Camaro, that's a simple one. GM (I mean Ron Zarella) didn't see the need for the Camaro in the brand management concept. He truly thought that if GM threw an SS badge on an otherwise stock Monte Carlo that the buying public would have it's two-door muscle car, if they marketed it properly. There was little to no infusion of capital into the f-car program for 10 years. I'd venture to say that the '98 MCE only happened so that GM could stop producing the LT1. At the beginning of the 4th gen life it was outselling the Mustang - GM just didn't give it a chance while Ford kept updating the Mustang. Do you really think the 350Z would be a hot seller in 10 years if it's basically the same car it is now?
As for class in a Camaro, that's a ****-poor arguement. No one buys these cars for class. They're brutes, and most owners will be the first to tell you that. Heck, if my wife and I go out to a nice dinner or show, we take her car. I knew the Camaro's reputation among people my age (mid twenties) when I bought it. I just don't care what other people think, and I know how to laugh at myself. How's this one - I told one of my coworkers who gives me **** for my car that if he paid for it, I'd get a vanity tag that said "MULLET". He backed out, but I would've done it because I could care less what some trendy twenty-something skank thinks of me. It's one of the true freedoms of marriage and self-confidence.
This thread is spriralling into the depths. I won't post again, unless a point you make warrants a respectful response.
Peace.

Sorry to close this thread, but I am doing it to get the attention of all those who disregarded my post at the close of the "Moron" thread yesterday.
