I'll be there! Hehehe. Good to see a Z come out and play on Hoosiers. I'm really interested to see how the cars do. Maybe I could hit you up for a slow ride around paddock to see what it's like?

We're thinking about getting one for T2 Road Racing.
See you in Dallas!

Jason,

I went and watched Hal run TC's Z at RA. He said it was the easiest car to race he had every driven. TC seems confident enough to be building a second Z for the Runoffs. Keep us informed if she you decide to race the Z!

Jason, Why aren't you signed up for Petersburg. I gotta fend off Carter, Salerno, and Sipe all by myself.

P.S. you lied about the car being good in the rain. About a second faster then GH in the dry, about 3 seconds slower in the wet, and I'm usually very quick in the wet in other cars. Care to hand over some wet weather set up ideas.

Believe me, Ian... I want to race at Petersburg. But I am helping King's World Challenge effort at Lime Rock that weekend.

And as for the rain? I dunno, the car works great for me in the rain. It depends a bit on the surface. Concrete or 'rough' asphalt are preferred. It's not as good on smooth or sealed asphalt. To be honest, we don't really do anything differently in the rain... just bolt on the Kumhos and drive. The car loves it.

JMark... we'll keep you posted. I've been meaning to call TC and talk it over with him. He's got a ton of experience with the class, so he should know. I've heard some rumblings about others building Z-cars as well.

Hmm... already found a wrecked silver Performance model with 900miles on it for less than $20k. Too bad I don't like silver!

We had been running the softer bar all weekend. Turned out to be a big mistake in the dry but we figured we'd leave it on for the rain. We put on my completely bald Kumho's which I ran on at nationals last year. The car wouldn't turn in, It seemed the only way you could coax it down into the corner was with some throttle. And believe it or not I had to feather the throttle in 3rd gear when pointed straight to keep them from spinning. (kinda wish it was like that in the dry, hehe). The surface was Bran new asphalt and it was about 40 degrees. GH showed up on BRAN Spanking new Escta's and cleaned up. It's making me think about getting a set of Escta V700's in 205/225's for the wet. I remember running them on my miata and rain or shine you didn't have to change your driving very much.

I figured by letting pressure out of the tires we'd some how generate more grip (standing water was at very few places) Turns out I was dead wrong. We increased the Pressure up near 50 psi for the last runs and the car was better but I was an idiot behind the wheel. I still don't think it could have caught GH.

Jason,
Curious who else might build a T2 Z? Just got an email from Hal and he was telling me the SCCA has dropped the Z weight to 3088 lbs. and approved oil & steering coolers. I know Hal ran at 3188 at RA. Car might have a chance after all.
Later.....

My lips are sealed! I've been sworn to secrecy, but let's just say some other National level T2 Competitors are thinking of switching to the Z. It's quite a risk, because quite frankly Camaros are wicked-fast. But I think the 350 has the best shot at de-throning the F-bodies of any car in recent memory.

That being said, I think that's why everyone is being so tight-lipped about the whole deal. Everyone wants to 'show up' with the 350 and win rather than creating a hype beforehand. I think if the 'buzz' had been really strong about the Nissan's chances, it never would have gotten the 100lb. weight break. So let's all keep this under our hats!

Looks like we may have our donor car lined up already! Shhh!
