Nice kill. I took a ride in one for the first time yesterday, and it left me scratching my head why some WRX owners see these as drag cars. The AWD launch was impressive, but it really left a lot to be desired after that. I guess you can mod them to move faster, but if you want a drag car there are cheaper ways to go about it. Why can't guys let these things own the rallys and autocross like they're meant to?

same reason guys here talk about 1/4 times, when the Zs strength is NOT accel (although it is NOTHING to be ashamed of), it is MUCH better on the track or in a canyon)

awd cars are all about the launch, if they screw up on that, then they are screwed.

Wait until you ride in a modded one...

Two here are running 13.20s... they are about to go to bigger turbos.

Those cars sir are drag cars...

I agree that stock, they are not much to look at in the performance arena. And certainly, those in LS1 cars need not worry about them when on the highway. I should say that in town though, they can be quite a menace with their AWD launches.

With turbo swaps, the WRX can trap at the same speeds that stock LS1's trap at, so they can be modified to play with LS1 cars even on the highway...... Just imagine though what the ET's would be like on an AWD setup that traps at the same speeds as LS1's..... If the LS1 does not have slicks, it will not keep up...

Zmeflyby - I think that the same can be said for almost any car out there.... Even with your car. If you do not launch, you will get eaten by a car with similar power levels....

Take care guys!

wrx does not have the same power level as my Z.
just think bout it this way:
ls1 vs 350z
i get a good launch i'll be ahead on 1st thru about 3rd gear.
after that the ls1 should fly by with no problem with a good driver.

the Z has a much better top end then the wrx.
no competiton on top ends.

I am not really talking about which car has the better top end here. i think the point I was trying to make is that for any car, if you do not get off the line properly, and the car next to you does, you probably wont catch up all that quickly if the next car has similar power levels to your car.

If it makes it easier, try comparing the G35coupe (manual) versus yourself in your car. The G35 launches properly, and you do a normal street start.... You won't catch the G35C for a while.....

That was all I was trying to get across when i implied that not too many cars are impressive from a stop without a proper launch

I don't know about the rest of you, but my car felt a whole helluva lot faster at 3,000 miles than it did at 450 miles. Just wait until your car is broken in properly!
