From what I have read the new S4 V8s times are almost identical to the Older 2.7 Biturbo. Low to mid 14s in the 1/4. But we all know magazine times don't hold up in the real world. Should be a good race. Let us know the results.

Who cares if he beats you. Race him for fun. If you lose, you got beat by a car that should beat you. If you win, then great. I know how reliable magazines are, but C&D has the new S4 doing the quarter in 13.6. I wouldn't think that you would lose too bad. Good luck.

i'm pretty sure u will get killed. the s4 is awd and then v-8 means more torque at low end for these guys. my guess is that it's not as hard to launch an n/a awd vs turbo awd (like wrx) because you dont have to worry about getting the rev limiter within or close to the turbo spool. but just race him anyway, if he has any idea how to launch (which is not hard) he should beat u by minimum of 2 cars in the 1/4

ummm...no. The B6 platform S4 (2004+) has not been released in the US yet. It's still a good 5 months away from arriving on dealer lots, in fact, the first US (B6) S4 that anybody has ever seen was at the NYIAS a few weeks ago. Unless he imported a European car, which would be more trouble than it's worth, your buddy doesn't have what he says he has.
And anyway, the B6 S4 with the 4.2 is supposed to run about a 13.8 1/4 mile.
Your friend probably has an A4 and is ********ting you. No offense. I'm an Audi guy, and I am very well aware of what is going on with Audi's product line in the US.
Tell him to pop the hood and post some pics.
Pic links, sorry, gotta copy and paste

Post some pics of the car and the motor. No way that it's the new S4 unless he imported it. If you post some pics I can tell if it is the Euro version or the US version (which would be rather impossible).
Stranger things have happened I suppose, but I doubt it's a US spec car if it is in fact a new S4.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago, but I raced my buddy down in Philly who has a 2001 S4 and we had some good runs. ( I drive a M/T Touring). Because of the AWD system, he consistently had me off the line by half a car length up to about 65 or 70. However, when we reached 70, I began to pull away every time. I'm not saying the Z is faster, but it's worth it to race your buddy and just see what happens.
